Summary purpose of the position:Responsible for Line Management of the Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, supporting Manufacturing across both the Medical and Media sides of the manufacturing site.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for manufacturing Engineers & Technicians.

  • Adhere to revenue and capital budgets for the team of Manufacturing Engineers.

  • Engineering responsibilities, support for filter manufacture and media continuous processing in key areas of the business producing quality critical product.

  • Generate Production documentation including Specifications, Training and Maintenance Guidelines.

  • Liaison with suppliers as a principle point of contact to resolve technical, validation and quality issues.

  • Ensure safe working practice for all within the vicinity of any automated equipment.

  • Demonstrate analytical ability within a manufacturing environment of production line issues.

  • Evaluate and quantify impact of production issues

  • Lead, mentor Engineering teams in solving manufacturing issues

  • Purchase and introduce new machinery using validation and mechanical change control

  • Implement cost savings to the Business via process improvements and waste reduction initiatives

  • Identify areas in which engineering improvements can be made to increase quality, efficiency or safety.

  • Project manage capital projects from initial concept through to successful completion and control the budgets

  • Supervise and maintain the Engineering service to manufacturing through Engineering’s and Technician staff.

  • Liaise with production to determine priorities and ensure efficient product delivery

  • Work with subcontract toolmakers in manufacture of jigs and tools

  • Work with subcontract designers of tooling and equipment.

  • Control the departmental budget related to tooling expenditure.

Essential Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Degree minimum in Production Engineering Process or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Successful implementation of lean manufacturing techniques and problem solving.

  • Plastics assembly experience with knowledge of bespoke automation.

  • Good working knowledge of plastic welding techniques - RF, ultrasonic
