Danaher Corporation Procurement Analyst – Strategic Procurement in O'Callaghan Mills, Ireland

Beckman Coulter currently have an opportunity for a Procurement Analyst - Strategic Procurement to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

The Procurement Analyst is a vital role within Strategic Procurement department. This department is primarily responsible for European Diagnostics CommOps suppliers (3rd party items shipped to our external customers) with an annual spend of $118M (in 2019). In total, the team manages approx 330 suppliers situated across Europe primarily.

He/she is reporting into the Strategic Procurement Manager EMEAI, where main tasks are to perform analysis regarding supplier spend, potential credit notes, implement price corrections, support strategic projects with ad-hoc analysis but also to run/present monthly data updates within tactical/strategic procurement department to drive supply chain improvements and optimisations. In addition, he/she will take ownership for a specific commodity (annual spend of approx $10M) with the purpose to become Subject Matter Expert (SME) to build knowledge on Beckman Coulter business (market drivers, matrix org), commercial needs, get to know stakeholders and support implementation of procurement strategies defined for this commodity. Lastly, he/she will give administrative support within the procurement department.

Reporting & Business Analysis (60%): Use reports (OBI) to execute procurement business analysis, such as tier pricing credit notes, volume bonuses, spend/cost analysis per supplier or commodities, monthly invoice price variance reports etc to drive decisions for supply chain optimization. He/she will (as needed) present data analysis (trends, KPIs…) in monthly tactical/strategic procurement meetings, which will support & drive discussions. In addition, departmental KPIs will be refreshed and maintained by him/her. As part of his/her role, he/she will support the maintenance of Supplier Management Database for data accuracy to business. He/she will also support tracking of identified savings projects & supplier score cards.

Support one specific CommOps commodity (20%): As Business Analyst, he/she will be assigned one specific commodity to become the Subject Matter Expert. As SME, he/she will liaise with commercial stakeholders to understand business needs, identify supply chain optimisation opportunities for this commodity to guide the procurement manager regarding future procurement strategies/support implementation of any defined strategy together with stakeholders. For this commodity, he/she will maintain the ‘360 Supplier Management’ database and ensure accurate pricing set ups. Lastly, he/she will provide general administrative support regarding price discrepancies, new supplier/item creation approvals.

Projects (20%): Based on data analysis and decisions taken as part of above activities, the Business Analyst will be assigned projects with low to medium complexity (completion within 1 to 6 months) to drive business improvements.


  • Honours Bachelor Degree in relevant field with at least 2+ years of experience

  • 1-3 years’ experience in Business analytics and/or Strategic procurement preferred

  • Highly Customer oriented (internal and external customers)

  • Experience from working within target-driven environment

  • Experience regarding project management

  • Familiarity with Strategic Sourcing method or similar process/procedures (nice to have)

  • Knowledge around Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts (process improvement concepts) highly desirable

  • Skills in other European languages is a plus

  • She/he must be adept at assisting, and occasionally co-ordinating multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced, target-oriented environment

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at senior levels of the company when needed

  • Approachable, Excellent communication skills, Team player

  • Travel: typically up to 10% for networking, workshops, meetings (on occasion there may be a higher requirement)
