The Staff Manufacturing Scientist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for identifying and resolving complex technical issues with current products or qualifying enhancements to existing or modified product configurations

This position is part of the Technical Operations Department located in Co. Clare and will be hybrid (3 days onsite per week) At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the BV Technical Operations Team and report to the BV Technical Operations Manager responsible for leading a team of scientists involved in the BV program design transfer activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify resolution to multiple complex technical problems, utilising the scientific method as the foundation for problem solving

  • Participate on technology transfer teams, present and discuss technical and non-technical aspects of assignments with lower level personnel, peers, or upper level positions

  • Perform comprehensive tests using advanced experimental design and analyze results using sophisticated statistical data analysis

  • Plan and prioritise daily and weekly work assignments with sensitivity to project priorities and their impact on the immediate business unit, as well as impact to corporate goals and objectives

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring less experienced team members in areas of expertise

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • B.Sc. (Level 8) in chemistry, biochemistry or related scientific field with 9+ years of relevant experience

  • Advanced knowledge and hands on experience of immunoassay core technologies and applications, with commercial assay development experience in an ISO/GMP environment

  • Strong understanding of biochemistry, clinical chemistry, biology, immunology and /or hematology as well as experimental design and statistical analysis

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to promote and debate key issues at all levels within the organisation

  • Strong organisational capabilities with attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining timelines for multiple projects

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or DBS certification

  • Proficiency in risk management concepts
