The R&D Scientist-Associate supports the research and development efforts of R&D Scientists, R&D Engineers, and R&D Management by performing lab and media processing tasks and minor projects in the R&D labs and on manufacturing equipment with minimum supervision, while gaining knowledge of membrane science related to life science research and development in areas such as pandemic vaccine research and development.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set-up of lab experimental and production processing equipment.

  • Preparation of lab and production formulations.

  • Support production scale processing.

  • Clean experimental and production processing equipment.

  • Handle and Dispose of hazardous waste.

  • Preparation of test samples.

  • Testing of samples.

  • Analysis and reporting of test data.

  • Perform daily safety and maintenance walk-throughs of labs and R&D production.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

  • Assist in installation for equipment.

  • Purchasing and Manage inventory of media, consumables, and chemicals.

  • Maintain chemical storage areas.

  • Maintain media storage area.

  • Maintaining work areas.

  • Oversee work of contractors.

  • Clearly communicates progress and results, both orally and in writing.

  • Plan technical tasks and track progress.

  • Participate in project planning and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

The R&D Scientist Associate is expected to demonstrate application of basic scientific skills in a science field such as chemistry, polymer chemistry/science, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or other related field. This is usually attained through an Associate or B.S. degree or a combination of experience and education.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate progress and results in oral and written form.

  • Conduct planned experiments in an effective manner.

  • Recognize anomalies in data and determine relevance.

  • Work effectively with team members, technicians, and manufacturing in a positive, professional manner.

  • Maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition.

Other Requirements:

  • To work safely and to align with the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
