A QA Lab Technician has responsibilities which include testing products, preparing chemical solutions, maintaining accurate and detailed records of product testing and manufacturing runs.
_Essential Job Functions:_ The Lab Technician is responsible for performing the following duties and responsibilities while under the general supervision and guidance of a technical person: Operates lab-scale and production equipment; Prepares chemical solutions; performs polymer synthesis under technical personnel’s supervision; Fabricates and/or modifies experimental apparatus to evaluate design concept provided by technical personnel; Performs test on developmental membranes to characterize them; Maintains accurate and detailed records of membrane testing and manufacturing runs; Effectively communicates technical information to personnel at various levels within the organization; Writes documents such as equipment operating instructions and chemical formulation recipes; Provides general laboratory and administrative support including but not limited to inventory maintenance, safety audits, and maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory and warehouse: and perform other general support duties as required by your supervisor.
_Minimum Qualifications_: Basic knowledge of math, chemistry (polymer chemistry, polymer science - preferred), and/orengineering (or related field) typically gained through a combination of classroom experience and approximately 1-3 years of relevant industrial experience or the successful completion of a BS and/or AA degree in related field with relevant lab/industry experience; Knowledge of QA testing procedures (preferred); The ability to perform routine wet and dry chemical analyses (preferred); The ability to recognize and troubleshoot abnormal test results (preferred); The ability to accurately collect data, and perform basic analysis of data (average, range, min, max);The ability to present and interpret data in graphical format; Basic mathematical skills including but not limited to percentages, fractions, various units and unit conversions; The ability to comprehend and follow verbal/written procedures and instructions; The ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form; The ability to work with chemicals and lab/plant equipment; The ability to operate lab and production equipment; The knowledge and ability to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment (preferred); The ability to work effectively with individuals across various organizational levels and departments; The ability to work on several simultaneous assignments while maintaining proper attention to detail; The ability to successfully meet deadlines; The ability to work flexible shifts and hours; The ability to maintain clean working environment and perform daily tasks in an organized fashion; Working knowledge of basic computer operations, word processing and spreadsheet software.
