The Process Safety Manager is responsible for developing the PSM program at Pensacola, which includes identifying and managing process risks and facilitating the delivery of a highly reliable organization. This PSM reports to the VP of Operations and has access to Cytiva’s Global EHS team and will provide operational support, facilitating business success by identifying and addressing opportunities to minimize risk and promote a positive EHS culture across the site.

This position is part of the Manufacturing & Operations department located in Pensacola and will be on-site. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery!

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide leadership in the facilitation and delivery of a world-class PSM program, owning the site process safety management system and driving the operationalization and ownership of process hazards.

  • Promote a positive, continuously improving, EHS culture at all levels of the organization by providing leadership and technical expertise for the site EHS and PSM Programs.

  • Partner with leadership and departmental functions to drive EHS culture and compliance and monitor relevant EHS/PSM standards and regulatory intelligence to minimize the impact on the site.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, customers, and other organizations to support Cytiva’s sustainability goals maintaining professional network/participation with standards organizations and collaborating with global leaders to support the development and governance of Cytiva’s EHS management system.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering or related EHS-related discipline and demonstrated experience with OSHA PSM/RMP regulations.

  • 10+ years of experience working with PSM in a high-hazard industry with an understanding of explosion safety standards (e.g., NEC 70, NFPA 497 and 499, and IEC60079) OR 10+ years’ experience as a process scientist/engineer in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing industry would be considered as an alternate to PSM experience.

  • Demonstrated experience using LEAN tools driving continuous improvement and proven ability to organize, motivate, and lead teams, drive change, and interact cross-functionally.

  • Effective ability to manage multiple diverse priorities including some travel domestically and internationally up to 10% as needed at other locations.

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience mentoring and coaching; demonstrated ability to motivate others, and expertise in collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

  • Experience working to promote Human Organizational Performance while also making critical decisions, even when under pressure & taking ownership of assigned projects and programs.

  • Accredited Process Safety Engineer, experience working with governmental or regulatory organizations (OSHA VPP & ISO & External Regulatory Auditing experience/ qualifications)

  • Life science experience.
