The Project Manager is the critical link between major operations and functional engineering groups / surveyors as well as the coordination for external contractors. In this role you will be responsible for aligning the multi-functional teams and balance commitments to internal sponsors to deliver the project(s) on time, within budget, and safely for both associated people and the environment. A successful Project Manager will need to work at the tactical level to drive out inefficiencies in communication and planning, as well as, manage competing sponsor priorities to establish priority and create the intended project impacts for the organization.

Main duties for this role include:

  • Coordinate internal operations functions to meet project schedule and quality and EHS commitments, generation of project plans, and resolution of program issues. Ability to mitigate risks (50%)

  • Apply leadership at the tactical level to hold multi-functional team members accountable for commitments to the business while using existing processes. (20%)

  • Collaborate closely with contractors and internal functional leaders to make timely decisions to improve on-time delivery (10%)

  • Utilize visual project management systems and daily management to communicate line of balance reports to major customers. (10%)

  • Find opportunities for improvement (10%)

Other aspects of the role:

  • Act as Project Leader in the planning and execution of a new manufacturing line

  • Development and application of work breakdown structures, Gantt chart structures, and daily management tools

  • Project cost/budget development, tracking, and reporting.

  • Matrixed project team recruitment, management, coordination, and supervision.

  • Application of the above in projects with total project values of > $1 million.

  • Generates project work scope definition, development, drafting, bid submission, bid evaluation, and contract management, particularly in the context of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contracting as well as General Contractor (GC) building activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals

  • A degree in mechanical or construction related subject area OR relevant industry certifications/qualifications

  • 4 or more years’ experience in a site construction management role managing projects > $20M

  • Must have experience managing new construction projects/builds for production/manufacturing or industrial clients

  • Experience in specification, vendor selection, and management/coordination of building construction, process support equipment and/or process equipment fundamental design, specification, and fabrication and installation supervision

  • Awareness of some or all of the following: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPV) & B31 series piping code, particularly ASME B31.3 Process Piping.

  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70/National Electrical Code (NEC) particularly experience in installation of process/industrial equipment in classified hazardous locations.

  • NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration Codes (29 CFR 1910) applicable sections.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (required),

  • Microsoft Project (highly preferred),

  • AutoCAD, any version (preferred),

  • Any knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving Techniques or Six Sigma methods would be helpful but is not crucial

  • Ability to lead multi-functional technical teams.

  • Risk assessment and risk mitigation techniques.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Work with restricted documents and technologies
