Using laboratory/pilot/production scale equipment to develop formulations and process for novel polymeric porous materials. This is a hands-on R&D position requires creative thinking and problem solving in polymeric material process development, and strong mechanical operation aptitude. The typical responsibilities include planning and executing laboratory experiments, material testing and property analysis, data analysis and reporting, literature search, equipment maintenance, technical communications including presentations and report writing. Some travel to visiting vendors and internal collaborators when necessary.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design process to convert lab scale experiments or senior and principal scientist ideas into pilot scale to full scale manufacturing processes.

  • Execute sample analyses, analyze results, summarize reports, and determine the next steps in an organized technical report.

  • Process Control and Automation for new and existing processes

  • Work with operations to support new product development of new PTFE product

  • This includes process development (scale-up) from pilot processes to full MFG scale

​ The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Science.

  • 5+ years experience in expanded PTFE, PP, HDPE or Nylon technology.

  • Experience and knowledge in establishing connections between in process material properties, process, conditions/method, and final material properties.

  • Experience with design and development product using PTFE for different market and application.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the current industry guidelines for designing, manufacturing, testing, and documenting under cGMP standard.

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience formulating polymeric material for process design and material properties.

  • Knowledge or experience with electronic controls, electronic probes, and equipment operations.

  • Experience operating pilot and production scale process equipment, experience in thermal biaxial stretching and extrusion is highly preferred.
