We have a career starting opportunity available for a Buyer to join our supply chain team. This unique role will wear many hats, with responsibilities in three main areas:
Place and process orders, including arranging transportation with 3PLs for chemicals, equipment and parts
Purchasing for engineering services including contacting vendors, conducting basic negotiations, and placing and tracking multi-line POs
Electronic and physical inventory counting/management in our facility in Buffalo. We are ideally seeking a candidate that either lives close to our Buffalo facility or can travel there at least twice a year for an entire week to conduct the physical inventory.
In our small and entrepreneurial environment, this opportunity is perfect for someone that is self-motivated and detail-oriented to impact our processes (improve our currently manual PO process) and impact the bottom line (realize cost savings and improve on time delivery)!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Process daily orders as received from USP Engineering and Commercial (sales) teams and inventory reports
Ensuring order fulfillment to improve on-time shipment, while communicating shortfalls
Negotiate and maintain system pricing to ensure ease of order processing
Track vendor performance and work with the Supply Chain & Quality Manager to drive improvements
Facilitate meetings to review vendor performance while upholding them to USP Technologies standards
Efficiently resolve vendor discrepancies (price, quality, delays, safety, etc.) while working with suppliers to drive to root cause and implementing corrective actions where needed
Drive continuous improvement through daily reporting of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
Identify and lead continuous improvement activities using multiple tools (Problem Solving Process, Kaizen, etc.)
Manage Blanket PO’s from issuance to renewal/deposition
Maintain shared departmental standard work documents
1-2 years of purchasing or inventory management experience
Bachelor's Degree; Degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred
ISM C.P.M or CPSM certification preferred
Strong analytical skills
Thrives in a fast-paced environment with limited oversight
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
