The Lead Developer is the heart of the Web development team. As gate keepers of our high-quality software, they lead their team’s technical strategy and coordinate efforts, enabling the team to improve products and delivery. Quantrix works in an agile fashion and as the Lead Developer your role will be critical in building relationships across the organization to align efforts, share best practices and bring out individual’s strengths, thereby growing our team’s capacity to take on bigger challenges.
This position has the opportunity to be fully remote or located in Portland, Maine or Boston, MA.
Translate engineering strategy and operational requirements into team level technical roadmap. Own and promote the technical roadmap considering market and customer insight; and liaise across IDBS Engineering to discuss potential synergies and prioritization of activities.
Drive design work considering security and performance requirements, architectural guidelines, and formulating your team's deployment and monitoring strategy.
Accountable for the team software development process: direct and motivate the development team; coordinate technical implementation efforts, ensuring that this fits with strategy, agreed specifications and guiding principles. Identify and escalate any skills gaps as necessary.
Actively participate and act as role-model in Agile meetings. Facilitate when required.
Personally deliver quality software (code) and ensure that your team’s software meets standards.
Conduct code reviews ensuring conformance to IDBS Engineering Quality System and using your experience to upskill and guide your team
Point of contact for audits: participate and/or delegate according to subject expertise needed.
Stay aware & promote new technologies, platforms, and best practices. Assess and advocate the use of design patterns at code and system level.
Manage team members performance and development, conducting 1-to-1 coaching and career conversations and performance reviews.
Interested in this opportunity? You'll need to bring:
Experience in design, development, and delivery of applications using a web-based front end and a multi-tiered back end consisting of integrated cloud-based application servers, micro-services and a variety of data sources
Ability to lead team(s) in all technical aspects of software development and delivery within an agile development environment
Experience developing secure software, including a good understanding of the OWASP top-10 and how these are applied
Understanding of build & deployment mechanisms, techniques, and software for CI & CD
Strong self-motivation with strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
Ability to take on mentoring function within the team with more junior developers
