Danaher Corporation Filter Design Scientist in Port Washington, New York
Pall Corporation is seeking a creative and ambitious Filter Design Scientist as with a passion for membrane science (gas/liquid separation) to join our R&D team in Port Washington, NY.
What will you do
Conducts Research and engages in New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration, independent of direct supervision. Provides R&D leadership within the group and cross-functionally as needed to drive innovation. Participates in and contributes to NPD roadmap using application knowledge from Semiconductor OEMs. Role is a part of our growing R&D team at Filter Design Center of Excellence for Microelectronics to develop the state-of-the-art filtration, purification and separation products.
Essential Job Functions:
Apply technical background related corrosion resistant metals and gas purifiers for next generation products in Gas Filtration and Purification
Designs, Analyzes and Engineers new products with the use of standard tools, engineering software, design calculations, and best-known methods for product designs
Leads innovation and develops new technologies, builds new ideas that enable New Product Development
Utilizes application knowledge from Semiconductor industry in filter product development
Maintains collaborations with other research and academic entities that enable breakthrough innovation
Utilizes sound fundamentals like Design of Experiments (DOE); leads project teams and task effort
Communicates clearly to leadership, team members, and other key partners.
Comprehends Voice of the Customer and engages technical expertise to meet voice of customer in new product design and development activities
Calculates and predicts product performance including fluid flow, stack-up tolerances, structural integrity etc.
Works with Test Laboratories to identify test protocols and quality performance criteria
Works with global teams by overcoming cultural and language barriers
Studies and learns the fundamental technology of a wide variety of filtration products, processes and equipment
Uses global R&D and engineering resources in other time zones
Participates in teleconferences during off hours
Requires 10% travel both nationally and internationally
Develops engineering design specifications for materials, processes and equipment with critical to quality measures.

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Masters degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Chemical, or other Engineering discipline, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemistry or Polymer Science (PhD strongly preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in R&D/product development and/or design engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical background related gas purifiers and corrosion resistant metals.
Technical skills in structural mechanics, fluid flow, finite element methods, and/or process modelling is desirable
Experience/Technical background in damage, fracture and fatigue analysis of composites or metals is preferred
Knowledge of the microelectronics industry, including processes (ALD/PVD/PECVD or etch or CMP or patterning-lithography/EUV) and tool equipment highly preferred
PhD degree in Science or Engineering
Experience speaking Asian language and adaptable to other cultures
