You are one of the creative brains behind our mixers and bioreactors, responsible for developing, customizing, sustaining and/or development of hardware and disposable devices for mixing and bioreactor technologies, from design concept until implementation at the respective manufacturing site!
Create and challenge project requirements for new product designs;
Take design lead in one or more projects with responsibility for all design and development activities;
Help to improve the designs of our existing products;
Be able to create new designs, both mechanically and, providing benefits and/or solving problems;
Identify and select relevant raw materials (plastics and steel), components (mechanical parts, sensors, actuators, motors,…), manufacturing/assembly processes (injection molding, thermoforming, sheet metal, machining…) and suppliers necessary for the realization of the products;
Follow-up, check and challenge suppliers’ progress;
Responsible for preparation of user documentation of products and of the systems (mechanical and electrical drawings, technical specifications, FAT/IQ/OQ);
Provide practical and technical assistance to other engineers in design, assembly, manufacturing and maintenance tasks;
Create mock-ups/prototypes and perform functional and performance tests;
Listen, understand, translate internal and external customers’ requirements;
Write procedures, documentation and reports related to tests and tasks performed;
Serve as an expert on your field/products and challenge the technical concepts of your colleagues, share your knowledge and be a role model and teacher for your team members;
Lead and support several projects at the same time;
Work in close collaboration with team members and other departments like internal sales, sourcing, quality, etc.
Education & Proficiencies:
Bachelor or Master degree in engineering, preferably electro mechanics;
Thorough experience of project management;
Demonstrable very specialized depth and breadth of expertise in at least 5 of following aspects of design that are key to Pall Biotech products:
Inventor & Vault for 2D and 3D CAD modeling;
Sheet metal, welding constructions;
Complex electo-mechanical assemblies;
Polymer part design and par validation;
Design for Reliability, DFMEA;
Inclusive ideation, concept development, prototyping, design reviews, decision making;
Inventive thinking, patent analysis, named as inventor on granted patents;
CE regulatory (machinery directive, LV, EMC);
Strength calculations via software simulation Computational analysis (e.g. FEA, CFD) to analyse structural integrity and/or fluid flow in proposed designs!
