At Leica in Richmond, IL, we are looking for an Associate Facilities Technician to provide support within the Leica Biosystems division.

Our Richmond Facility is hiring for an Entry Level Hourly Position for someone who is flexible and able to work in an environment where you are exposed to indoor and outdoor elements and preform different duties on site. Position Summary

Perform the day-to-day facility operations under the direction of the Facilities Manager/Maintenance Manager. Responsible for the completion of all facilities service requests as assigned. Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, State and Federal guidelines

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform facilities maintenance and repairs, including basic facility plumbing, basic electrical, basic carpentry, painting, furniture re-arrangement, floor cleaning, etc.

  • Work from verbal and written procedures to support facility needs and work independently in the different work areas, process areas, laboratories, and utility areas.

  • Generate requisitions for materials required to perform assigned tasks.

  • Observe safe working practices and follow site procedures.

  • Perform tasks proficiently with little or no supervision.

  • Contribute recommendations for improvements to work methods, safety procedures, and other work activities.

  • Completing all duties as directed.

Required Education, Experience, Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be able to communicate (understand/speak) in English

  • Must be proficient in using computers, Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must be able to exert 50 to 100lbs. of force occasionally, 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly

  • Standing/Walking is required up to 90% of the workday

Language: English


  • Must be energetic, a self-starter

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places

  • May be required to work weekends and overtime, as needed.

  • Mechanical aptitude, team player and effective communicator.

  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors and to act in concert with others to achieve tasks.

  • Requires understanding of basic math skills to do mathematical calculations (i.e., convert English/Metric units, weigh materials, calculate percentages).

  • Must be able to operate fork lift, scissor lift, and floor scrubber May be exposed to wet or humid conditions

  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions

  • May be exposed to high noise environments

  • May be exposed to dusty environments

  • May be exposed to chemicals used in processes

  • Other requirements in department as needed
