Danaher Corporation Planner in Romeoville, Illinois


In the Planner role, you will be responsible to manage and coordinate production levels to satisfy customer on-time delivery expectations while balancing inventory levels and production capacity. The Planner will implement pull planning systems and be a champion development of new planning tools. Responsibilities also include helping to define, develop and refine the planning system to meet the needs of internal and external customers.


  • Establishes and maintains supply system as assigned to ensure uninterrupted supply of required materials.

  • Makes independent decisions to place and maintain signals to support ongoing material supply. Determines appropriate amount of inventory to support business and manage risk.

  • Develop a schedule that is consistent with company objectives for customer service levels and inventory levels.

  • Using MRP, re-order points, heijunka reports, Kanban, and product knowledge, provide due dates of assigned products by coordinating with appropriate functional areas. Update priorities as needed.

  • Work with support departments (Purchasing, sister companies, etc.) to maintain correct inventory and safety stock levels.

  • Manage database fields for reorder points, safety stocks, lot sizes, and lead times to minimize inventory while providing appropriate stock availability

  • Input and update BOM's and routings, using product knowledge and information provided by other departments.

  • Advise production management regarding current and future work-loads.

  • Cross-train the planners and others as needed to ensure back-ups are available and ready when needed.

  • Assists with action plans, root cause and countermeasures for objectives.


  • Utilizes critical thinking to drive Problem Solving methods to solve difficult problems.

  • Listen and responds to customer needs

  • Uses breakthrough thinking to drive improvements and growth


  • 1-year experience as a Buyer or Planner, or (closely related experience) and two-year college or technical degree required.

  • OR 1-year experience as a Buyer or Planner, or (closely related experience) and APICS CPIM certification

  • OR BA/BS degree in transportation/logistics, materials, business or other relevant degree

  • OR 3 or more years’ experience as Buyer or Planner or closely related experience

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including MRP, inventory management, and planning systems


  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Demonstrated experience in solving complex problems

  • Proficient using using Microsoft Office Suite tools (Excel, Outlook)
