Position Summary

The Application Specialist will be part of a dynamic Application Specialist team within Leica Biosystems Client Services department. This person will be directly involved with both pre and post sales activities for the North America Selling Unit. This person will provide superior customer support by providing technical input for complex implementations. This person will also be responsible for pre-sales presentations. This person will provide technical support and assisti customers with implementing the optimal configuration of Aperio ePathology solutions by evaluating their workflow and educating the client after the sale. This position involves extensive interaction with other roles within Leica including Sales, Marketing, Quality, Product Management and Technical Services.

Major Responsibilities

  • Deployment and implementation of Leica (Aperio) suite of solutions for assigned accounts, which includes 5 scanners (hardware) and 10 software packages.

  • Post-sales support in the field and in-house, including remote presentations

  • Pre-sales technical point of contact (POC)

  • Lead IT discussions with customer Information System departments

  • Attend assigned tradeshows, demos and evaluations

  • Conduct presentations remotely via WebEx or at customer’s site

  • Perform ongoing account management duties for assigned accounts

  • Assist with training, workflow evaluation and deployment of new software releases

  • Liaison between customers and various Leica departments

  • Certified Trainer on Leica (Aperio) Software Applications

  • Prepare status reports to Applications Manager, including but not limited to competitive information, product issues, customer issues, target account lists, expense reports and calendar.

  • Point of contact for customer escalations and technical lead, advising customers by understanding their needs, laboratory workflow and implementing the optimal configuration of Aperio ePathology solutions

Required Education, Experience, Skills

Education: B.S. Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Science or Histology

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in life science and/or healthcare related field

  • Minimum 1 year experience with immunofluorescence imaging

  • Understanding of image analysis

  • Minimum 1 year experience with digital pathology platforms

  • Superior verbal and written skills

  • General IT knowledge

  • Proficient in standard computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Education, Experience, Skills

Education: M.S. or PhD Biological Sciences or related field

Experience/Skills:

  • Understanding of regulatory principals and

  • Understanding of medical technology

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information System or Laboratory Information Management System

  • Training experience for individuals and small groups

  • Knowledge of Pathology Laboratory workflow

Travel: Ability to travel 75%+

Language: English
