Are you ready to advance your career in Continuous Improvement? We are looking for an experienced practitioner of the Danaher Business System (DBS) growth innovation tools to fulfill a crucial role in our product development processes as Innovation DBSL. This position guides continuous improvement of processes, teams, and individuals in our global research and development organization. The innovation DBSL works closely with R&D leadership to execute Molecular Devices’ portfolio evolution strategy. This role is crucial in creating a culture of innovation that empowers associates and results in on time delivery of solutions that delight our customers. Included in the scope is the facilitation of innovation kaizen events, education of associates, support of Visual Project Management, Problem Solving Process, and Daily Management.

Job Purpose

  • Work with VP Global R&D to build a culture of innovation and consistently develop products that solve the customer problems identified as most impactful in our corporate strategy.

  • Drive continuous improvement of our innovation processes and teams through education and deployment of DBS tools from the Growth and Leadership toolboxes.

  • Drive innovation DBS tool knowledge and usage to the lowest possible levels of our global R&D organization

  • Drive engagement with DBS by lead training programs for Molecular Device’s innovation associates to minimize the time to effectiveness for new hires, and continually improve the skills and knowledge of all associates working on our product development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously improve innovation project processes by utilizing DBS’ Growth Innovation tools through collaboration with R&D leadership.

  • Engage and educate R&D associates and people leaders to build a culture of innovation and enable individuals and teams to utilize DBS tools to make the impact of their work visible.

  • Work with people leaders and DBS leadership to identify and develop certified practitioners in DBS tools that can accelerate our rate of continuous improvement.

  • Support Visual Project Management, Daily Management, and Problem Solving activities for the R&D organization.

  • Lead completion of critical projects and initiatives through the use of formal Action Plans

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the DBS Growth Innovation toolbox via 1 point lessons, bootcamps, specific tool trainings, and train the trainer programs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a DBSL or 3 years in Innovation leadership using DBS Growth tools.

  • Certified Practitioner status for at least one Growth Innovation DBS tool (VPM, P2P,CPD, CI, LEx, DSS) and completion of the DBS PSP course, Daily Management Course, and TFTI Course.

  • Facilitation or Leading of at least 5 Kaizens, PSPs, or VPM/Daily Management installations

  • Demonstrated success building/leading high performance innovation teams

Skills and Attributes:

  • Written and oral presentation skills that both engage and inform

  • Passion for guiding associates to reach organizational innovation objectives and individual developmental goals.

  • Desire to obtain and analyze information from internal and external customers to help innovation teams efficiently develop products that win in the marketplace.

  • Ability to travel to Molecular Devices’ facilities or customer sites for 15%-40% of workdays

  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals across Molecular Devices’ organizational structure (sales, marketing, R&D, Innovation, Service, Operations, Finance, HR)
