Manager will be responsible for the systems engineering team in the Access Solutions Group (ASG) at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. The ASG creates medium and high throughput automation and robotic systems for life science research workflows, giving scientists around the world the tools to craft the next generation of medical treatments, improvements in agricultural crops, and other life science innovations.

Management responsibilities include:

  • Direct a team of system engineers responsible for a diverse set of engineering tasks, from initial system design to final system testing.

  • Create and improve standard processes to facilitate on time delivery of high-quality automation systems.

  • Lead project staffing assignments to support customer orders, as well as new product development.

  • Build and develop a high-performance working team working, cultivating a culture of inclusion and diversity.

  • Establish a strong talent pipeline and ensure customer focus through team engagement.

  • Form relationships with other engineering managers, quality/regulatory, tech support, sales, field applications, and marketing associates.

  • Support creation and execution of key initiatives with the Automation Solutions Group leadership team


  • BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry or Biology with 7+years of experience, respectively

  • Proven success leading multi-functional and cross-site teams, with a collaborative style, and aptitude in team facilitation

  • Exhibit strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with PC hardware and networking

  • Experience with automated liquid handling (tip-based and/or acoustic), robotics and integrated systems for laboratory research applications preferred

  • 3+ years of experience with systems engineering or life science research and automation is highly desirable

  • Experience leading medical device or sophisticated instrumentation & control products in a regulated environment under design control

  • Travel: up to 20%.
