What you’ll do
Cytiva Great China has an exciting opportunity available for a highly motivated, ambitious and inspiring Business Development Manager, as a key leader in the critical growth engine for her global business, by contributing to develop new business and localization opportunities (both organic and inorganic), drive in region for region projects, and build up the autonomy and ecosystem of local manufacturing/offering of Bioprocess, Cell & Gene therapy (C>), and Genomics & Cellular Research (G&CR) products and services to support Cytiva sustainable growth.
Manage Cytiva BD activities in China, screen potential partners and options, build up the business plan, negotiate with partners and internal stakeholders (cross-functional team on a global basis), and close the deals;
Deeply understand local life sciences market and competition environment, work closely with business partners (Bioprocess, C>, and G&CR) to identify, cultivate, develop/build up localization opportunities to help boost Cytiva continuous future growth;
Liaise with HQ business leaders and global BD team for any possible business development, licensing or acquisition opportunities in China;
Proactively search according to strategic request for potential local partners, identify and analyze external opportunities for M&A, licensing and partnership (OEM, CMO, etc.), develop and maintain effective external relationship with C-level, and interface with partners for strategic alliance;
As business development catalyst, generate business plan and financial analysis for the selected projects to get approval;
Lead BD process including negotiation, reviewing legal agreement, setting up CDA, LOI, MOU, Term Sheet and final agreement;
Work horizontally with cross-functional team on a global basis to drive the approved projects delivery and GTM strategy;
Build up the ecosystem for Cytiva localization strategy for China and beyond;
Responsible of building and updating BD tracker/leads/report/project status to senior leadership.
Who you are
Qualifications / Requirements
5 or more years of Leadership experience in life sciences (Bioprocess, Cell & Gene Therapy, Research) industry; at least 3 years prior experiences in BD, R&D, marketing, product management, licensing, strategy or consulting roles in LS space.
Experts focusing on BD and M&As. Seasoned expertise within a field comprising of different approaches, methodologies, techniques and processes. Communicates solutions across own function with impact on other functions.
Experience in working with senior management to align business strategies and solutions.
Demonstrated ability to form, lead and manage cross-functional, cross-business teams; significant experience leading new business from project delivery to GTM strategy.
Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business.
Competitive individuals that work diligently.
Experience working globally and across different cultures.
Strong oral and written communication Chinese and English skills. Ability to communicate complex messages to others.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, to lead programs / projects, to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, MBA).
Proven experience of closing business development deals, leading a project or team, managing partner relationships, working with regulatory agencies (NMPA…) and government. Ability to develop and execute multiple priorities and approaches to meet objectives.
Ability to convey complex concepts and strategies, orally and in writing in both Chinese and English in a global environment; exceptional interpersonal skills; excellent listener; seeks broad inputs and feedbacks and capable of forming consensus.
Track record of successfully establishing and managing GM, VP and C-Suite client relationships at major corporations including leading presentations to these senior leaders.
Deep experience in project management across multi-disciplinary teams in an influencer role; attention to detail and rigorous documentation discipline are required.
