The < Lead Material Engineer > for Cytiva is to provide technical leadership internally and externally to identify and develop new materials and technologies for Bioprocess consumables & reagents (Resins, Magnetic Beads, Primer Support, filtration etc) . Lead materials’ selection, evaluation, validation and requirement definition for new product development. Bridge with global for resin to identify innovative materials. Work closely and effectively with cross-functional departments worldwide including R&D , Business Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory and Sourcing to enable products development (NPD, license In, OEM) to succeed and establish China SME for materials ’ innovation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with B usi ness Development and marketing team to identify and develop new materials and technologies for Chromatographic fillers, adsorption separation and macromolecular purification products

  • Provide technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams for feasibility studies to analyze the commercial and technical viability of new products and processes in Bioprocess, Cell and Gene therapy process

  • Design feasibility test plan and hands on the verification implementation to achieve material’s full assessment

  • Analyze and test organic chemical and polymer materials with conventional chemical analysis instruments and equipments

  • P erform sophisticated analysis of complex data and make products or process recommendation based on analysis

  • Assess viability of a technology, process or method to make recommendations as to the best application for business needs

  • Drive localization and innovation projects to succeed locally and globally

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master or above degree in Polymer, Chemistry, Chemical, Materials related field

  • Professional knowledge in the synthesis, modification, characterization, and processing of polymer materials

  • 5-10 years in R&D or more of experience in research of chromatograph resins, polymer base matrix, filtrations

  • Proficient in operating various instruments and equipment related to chemistry and polymers

  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Knowledge of polymeric expertise in single-use technology, application, processing or medical device consumables application is a plus
