The Market Development Specialist – Clinical and Biopharma serves as the market vertical focused strategic resource for clinical for the larger organization while also supporting the biopharma market. This individual’s focus is to develop and communicate strategic plans for driving growth in the clinical market vertical while maintaining a pulse on the market including identifying potential collaboration efforts, market trends and changes, regulations, customer needs and/or unmet needs, and competitor activity. The individual will also support the clinical and biopharma markets in the development of go-to-market plans, positioning strategies and the production of marketing content.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess the clinical market to better understand customer needs and best strategies for Phenomenex. Work closely with sales, product marketing and application lab to ensure customer needs are met short and long term:
Go to Market Strategy: define what we need to present to the marketplace which includes messaging, technical content, branding, etc. and develop appropriate marketing campaigns to distribute to customers (webinars, advertising, technical notes, etc.)
Competitive Strategy: define how will we compete with existing products and technologies
Applications Strategy: determine what applications are needed to win as well as what KOL collaborations can be developed.
New Product Development strategy: work with Product Managers to determine what new technologies, products, or services can we offer/leverage to solve customer problems and define the attractive market opportunity
Regularly collect market intelligence through primary/secondary market research and voice of customer (VOC) to support short- and long-term strategic efforts for clinical and biopharma markets
Support biopharma market on key initiatives – developing focus and specialty in one or more submarkets for biopharma and supporting in developing key strategies, customer collaborations, applications and new product development
Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science-related field preferred
Experience with HPLC, GC, and/or sample preparation techniques in the clinical or biopharma industry
Marketing or business experience in a scientific/technical industry
Critical thinker and creative problem solver with a combination of good intuitive judgment and strong analytical skills
Available for up to 25% travel
