Danaher Corporation Trade Compliance Manager in South San Francisco, California

  • Develop and execute trade compliance policies, processes and procedures that meet evolving regulations and requirements

  • Good understanding of US Customs and Import Laws and Regulations (CFR 19) as well as knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Customs broker management and optimization

  • Manage the incorporation of trade compliance policies into business units and operational processes as necessary ensuring timely implementation and monitoring of GTC

  • Lead engagements with third party suppliers that support critical trade compliance processes such as denied party screening and potential match adjudication and end use/user questionnaire process. Collaborate to ensure end to end transparency of new/added/improved processes

  • Develop a communication strategy for global trade compliance program to increase visibility of the function within the Company and enhance Company employees’ understanding/awareness of GTC issues, including developing function-based, risk-based trade compliance training and communications

  • Oversee the development of a systematic end-to-end approach to classifying Company’s products and related software, technologies and services, including those with encryption capabilities including managing all encryption sub-authorities and government reporting requirements

  • Understand and stay on top of Company’s existing and future technologies/products to ensure trade compliance issues are proactively addressed

  • Manage Company’s US Government export licenses applications and export classification ruling requests

  • Develop and implement trade compliance program continuous improvement activities.

  • Perform compliance risk assessments and tailor trade compliance programs to address such risks

  • Monitor legal, regulatory, and trade developments that impact Cepheid business and provide updates to various stakeholders

  • Advise on compliance-related issues including but not limited to product classification and export controls.

  • Collaborate with Cepheid business units to build trust, influence and make informed and timely decisions

  • Perform all other relevant activities relating to job accountabilities as the need arises

Experience:

  • Global Trade Compliance Experience with Biotechnology companies

  • Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience OR

  • Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR

  • Doctoral degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience.

  • Experience with Partner Government Agencies (PGA), especially FDA and USDA

  • Strong project management skills preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of importing and exporting with the US, Canada, and LATAM countries
