The Service Platform Technical Specialist (SPTS) is responsible for managing the global Service and support aspects of a Capillary Electrophoresis platform, with a focus on support and sustaining activities. Additionally, this role may support product development activities. A deep knowledge and experience in Capillary Electrophoresis or similar technology is required for this position. Acting as the hub, this position will have close collaborative interactions internal groups such as Design Engineering, Operations, Quality, R&D, Internal Customer Support etc. and also with the global field Service teams, ensuring the accurate flow of information between these groups.
Acts as the primary link between the field and factory for issues and ideas, demonstrating an understanding of both the service business and Operations, and leading the implementation of service-related initiatives
Responsible for the respective platform’s metrics, including installation metrics, repair metrics, etc.
Own investigating complaints/quality issues and providing end to end problem resolution in collaboration with in-house resources
Responsible for Install Success metrics through collaborative efforts between the factory and the Global Service teams.
Conducts technical workshops for field service engineers
Supports the development of training and reference materials
Collects and implements standard methodologies for service process/troubleshooting improvement.
Works with a multi-functional team to develop diagnostics tools, remote monitoring and remote fix capabilities
Communicates required technical/ process/ commercial information to field service by developing and transmitting Service Bulletins
Provides technical support for resolution of field critical global issues in conjunction/ collaboration with the service escalation team and the factory team; including field visits and global travel (up to 20%).
Works with the R&D and Service core teams during a product development project to advise on service requirements and confirm the product is designed for optimum serviceability. May be asked to serve as the swim lane lead.
Involved in Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) activities to ensure that service requirements are met and deliverables are in place. This activity includes evaluating proposals for Design for Service, participation in design reviews and release of new designs into manufacturing.
Acts as a champion for global service Cost Saving Initiatives (CSI) - assisting in identifying, planning and execution of activities
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Requires Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, or Engineering
4+ years of Field Service or equivalent experience in complex high-tech systems
2+ years of leading small to medium sized projects with multiple collaborators
Experience working in a GLP/GMP environment and with an ISO quality system.
Experience with Capillary Electrophoresis, HPLC, MS, or other separation technology
Basic Chemistry/Biochemistry knowledge a plus
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, mentoring, negotiation and customer management skills.
Solid project management/ organizational skills to lead and direct small project teams to successfully achieve desired goals and objectives in timely manner
Superior computer & electro-mechanical knowledge.
Familiarity with common applications for Capillary Electrophoresis
Basic Understanding of Mass Spectrometry
Continuous improvement proficiency and analytical approach.
Able to work in a Sciex office or remotely as needed
Able and willing to lift up to 50 pounds
Able to travel Domestic/International (up to 20%)
Maintain a valid Driver’s license
