Danaher Corporation Field Service Engineer in Stevenage, United Kingdom

We are looking to hire an experienced Field Service Engineer who will report to the Field Service Manager for the region.

To deliver, promote and sell high quality technical service within area of responsibility with the objective of achieving customer satisfaction whilst obtaining individual or team revenue and KPI targets.

The primary responsibility of the position holder is service and maintenance along with troubleshooting and commissioning of the laboratory instruments in the Leica Biosystems portfolio.

The Field Service Engineer will also need to be readily available to support customers and colleagues in a proactive and timely fashion with the objective of maximising customer satisfaction.

Visit customers for installations, preventative maintenance, repairs, fault analysis and upgrades in order to achieve high customer satisfaction and ensure a professional repair in due time with effective, efficient & safe work practices. Provide phone support & occasional Helpdesk support to reduce customer downtime. Perform root cause analysis in the field or in the business / manufacturing unit.

This position is to provide onsite support, with occasional support within the EU where necessary. The ideal candidate will leave within easy access of London and Cambridge. Candidates living in the Stevenage, Essex, Middlesex areas will also be considered.

Career Progression

It is expected that the Field Service Engineer would have the potential to develop technically either broadly as a generalist or product specific as a specialist. As an alternative, development into other Service or Sales related roles is possible, representing other product groups and/or management responsibility within Leica Biosystems or other Danaher operating companies.

In this role, you’ll

  • Visit customers to perform preventative maintenance, repairs, fault analysis, and upgrades to achieve optimum customer care and ensure a professional repair in due time with effective and efficient working practices in line with set KPI’s.

  • Deliver accurate reporting, handling and timely submission of Salesforce reports, Expenses, Spares Stock management and other service documentation.

  • Work closely with Field Support Team to ensure all customers are provided with an industry leading professional After Sales Service within the KPI’s set by Service Management.

  • Co-operate closely with and support the sales team with tasks such as basic training for customers, installations, demonstrations and system builds.

  • Exchange valuable information resulting from customer contacts to increase customer satisfaction and sales/service administration and communication, competent for our clients.

  • Co-operate closely with Technical Assistance Centre to ensure smooth and fast processes and information flow.

  • Provide support to end users to maximise customer satisfaction and to build the reputation of the products in the marketplace.

  • Provide input to the product service specialist to improve reliability and feedback to the Business Unit and other LBS Field Service team.

  • Contribute to team goals of Customer Satisfaction, Return Call Rate, Preventative Maintenance Planning, Utilisation and Service Financials.

  • Fosters an exhibits a "Best Team Wins" mentality.

    What you’ll need to do the job

  • Experience in Field Service or a related field preferred.

  • Understanding of Mechanical, Electronic or Electronical Technology.

  • Knowledge of network configuration and setup such as firewalls and TCP/IP networking components in a Windows environment.

  • Proven ability to learn in technical areas with limited previous experience.

  • Proven ability to support IT systems during entire Product Life Cycle

  • Ability to carry & move up to 25kg safely.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written with ability to communicate across different levels internally and at customer sites.

  • Positive, upbeat and proactive, able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
