What you’ll do
Optimise surface chemistry steps to produce functionalised membrane materials, including supporting scale-up and transfer to our on-site pilot production facility
Functionalise membranes with biological or chemical ligands for use in the next generation of affinity chromatography applications, towards expansion of Cytiva’s Fibro range of products
Work closely with Materials Scientists, Engineers and Biologists to support activities including chemical analysis, reactor design, device fabrication, reactor and applications testing
Take detailed lab notes and use these to write up accurate protocols and technical reports
Carry out and detail COSHH and Risk Assessments
Who you are
PhD in chemistry or a closely related subject from an accredited institution, with specialism in organic, polymer or materials chemistry and significant practical laboratory work
1 year experience of R&D experience gained while working in industry (Chemical or Biotechnology) is highly desirable
Experience of scaling up reactions between 1-100 L and/or collaboration with engineering functions towards designing and optimising new chemical reactors is helpful
Experience or good solid understanding of chemical analysis techniques such as GC-FID, SEC-HPLC, Raman Spectroscopy is desirable
Proven interest in problem solving, flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities, good attention to detail and a strong teammate
