The Camstar Engineer is responsible to analyze and support manufacturing systems. This requires broad end-to-end knowledge of the manufacturing processes from different perspectives: operator, quality engineering, quality assurance, logistics, etc. The incumbent is part of a larger team, which is spread out over the different manufacturing sites. Solutions need to fit together in the end-to-end business flow. Systems which are currently part of the systems landscape are: SAP ERP (Hana), DataLyzer SPC, Siemens Camstar, Oracle Agile PLM, and others.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes and understands Cepheid Operations’ business needs, and translate those needs into:
Supporting business cases
Implementation in Camstar:
Software requirements and specifications for Camstar
Process modeling in Camstar
Operator, Supervisor and Engineering training programs, supporting changed shop floor programming in Camstar
Interfacing Camstar with adjacent business systems
Analyzes and understands business needs from an end-to-end perspective taking into account other MES and SAP ERP projects
Participates in Kaizens and other process improvement activities while aligning them with the Business Solutions Roadmap.
Presents analysis and findings to management in a structured way, providing input into the Business Solutions Roadmap
Partners proactively with key internal customers, stakeholders, and team members
- Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time
Education and Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, computer science or relevant field, with 5+ years of Camstar work experience OR
Master’s degree in manufacturing engineering, computer science or relevant field with 3+ years of Camstar work experience OR
Doctoral degree in manufacturing engineering, computer science or relevant field with 0-2 years of Camstar work experience.
Knowledge and skills:
Good communicator with associates of all levels of the company
Able to work with cross-functional teams to drive and influence changes and improvements.
Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
Experience in supply chain operations and service delivery
Must be able to stand for several hours.
To be able to see manufacturing processes up close; ability to be on the shop floor and in cleanrooms.
Limited international travel; must have or be able to get a current passport
Travel to local sites (Newark, Sunnyvale, Lodi)
Works well under pressure and ambiguity.
Is accurate, detailed, and is also able to see the big picture.
Quick learner, self-starter, able to drive projects with minimal direction.
FDA Validation Expertise with CFR 21 Part 11/eDHR design
Working knowledge of Agile PLM or other PLM system
working knowledge of SAP in operations
