Danaher Corporation Director, Global Developed Segment Marketing, Hospitals in Sunnyvale, California


Define, deliver, and execute upon strategic marketing plan:

  • Drive Cepheid’s upstream (3-5 year) commercial, product, and service strategy to ensure growth in all Developed market hospitals by building upon the company’s full portfolio of systems, services, infectious disease, and oncology tests.

  • Support strategic planning activities and explore long-term growth opportunities for Cepheid in all areas of the Hospital segment. i.e. Large academic centers, small and medium hospitals, hospital POC, and commercial labs.

  • Monitor and analyze market data to identify global market trends and opportunities and translate those needs into deliverables for internal stakeholder communication.

  • Track and manage departmental budgets

  • Learn, utilize and lead through Danaher Business System (DBS) principles.

Build Alignment between Regional Segment Marketing (RSM) and Global Product Management (GPM) Teams

  • Partner with RSM to deepen understanding of local markets and ensure broader alignment and cohesion of strategic planning across all Hospital segments.

  • Partner with GPM to facilitate up front NPD efforts and consult throughout product development processes to ensure product and segment alignment.

  • Partner with MedSci, RD, GPM, Sales and Operations team to ensure successful launch of new products

Develop positioning and messaging for Cepheid and its products for key Hospital Segments.

  • Through active customer engagement, build and test specific core messaging, positioning, and value propositions for each target segment and refine as needed.

  • Provide inputs into Marketing comms' mktg. materials development based on core messaging for segment

Define market development strategies for the Hospital Segments.

  • Identify new market opportunities/validate market potential in the Hospital POC and all other Developed Hospital segments globally.

  • Lead effort to characterize the global opportunity for new products and services in hospitals and rebuild Cepheid’s brand from technology and product focus to a broad solutions focus.

  • Coordinate new market development activities across GPM and RSM as maturity of market development evolves.

  • Design and coordinate market priming activities to be localized and carried out through partnership with RSM, particularly with new product launches and the Oncology portfolio.

  • Coordinate market development investments needed at global level (e.g., clinical studies, joint ventures, strategic alliances, etc.)

Define optimal customer experience for the Hospital Segments

  • Conduct extensive VoC to build a comprehensive customer experience definition for the target segments, socialize the findings and drive and action plan to execute.

  • Define high-level target customer experience globally for specific segments; how we will cater to needs of each customer. Then, localize with RSM to narrow to specific target customer experience regionally.

Education or Experience (in years):

  • Bachelor’s degree (business or life sciences) with 14+ years of experience in Sales, Marketing or Operations in the medical or diagnostic industries; MBA with 12+ years of experience is preferred

  • 5+ years people management experience and proven ability to assess, attract, retain and develop personnel

  • Demonstrated experience of translating clinical value into marketing messages across lab, clinical/healthcare provider, health system and patient segments

  • Experience working directly with thought leaders in relevant areas is required

Knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of the Infectious Disease testing marketplace highly desired.

  • Strategic marketing and planning experience is preferred

  • Demonstrates knowledge of products and their application

  • Communicates effectively and strong team player/collaborator with various internal constituents, customers and other stakeholders

  • Excellent presentation skills; able to multi-task across broad number of products and disease states

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Role requires frequent travel of up to 30% and may include some international travel

  • Must be able to sit for several hours during business travel.

  • Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
