Danaher Corporation Director, Global Finance in Sunnyvale, California

Position summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, FP&A, the Director, Global Finance plays a critical leadership role in the strategic and financial planning of the company with a primary focus on Corporate Strategy, Strategic Pricing, Corporate reporting & analytics, and supporting the Global Customer Care organization.

This is a highly visible role that includes frequent interaction with executive leadership, and other key internal and external partners. As a leader within the Finance organization, this role’s overarching responsibilities include leadership of FP&A efforts in delivering and insightful business analysis that enable decision-making and improve Cepheid's overall performance.

This leader will influence Cepheid’s strategic direction through financial analysis, eye for business, and judgment.

This role currently has a team of 4 (2 directs reports, who both have a team of 1).

Essential job responsibilities:

  • Leads, builds, develops and retains a hard-working, diverse and inclusive Corporate Finance team.

  • Consolidate Cepheids’s long-range Strategic plan and provide strategic insight and recommendations to the business on its financial performance, focusing on company goals, trends, and analytics to help meet Cepheid’s long-term growth plans.

  • Provide business partnering support to the Global Customer Care organization. Leads and coordinates the development of the budget, forecast and actual reporting of the global service P&L.

  • Prepare the monthly and quarterly Corporate Finance Analytics: Financial package for the CEO’s Monthly Operation Review, President letter, Corporate Quarterly IR Deck, Revenue Growth file.

  • Prepare and submit, daily, weekly, monthly quarterly Revenue statistics to Danaher Corporate Finance.

  • Work directly with the regional finance teams to ensure timely and accurate actual reporting, forecasting and budgeting of Revenues and Commercial Operating expenses.

  • Deliver financial models for key and new business concepts, products, services, and partnerships and understand the impact to the overall business and profitability.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Marketing to build cohesive pricing strategies and explore opportunities for growth via pricing across the Company’s existing and future offerings.

  • Work closely with Product Marketing to understand industry trends with regards to marketplace pricing and translate that market data into a digestible and meaningful format.

  • Drive organizational improvements to develop the best team possible and work with staff to ensure that adequate development plans are in place so that we create and grow a bench of robust finance talent.

  • Build and maintain an environment of personal accountability that encourages ownership of issues and excellence in service.

  • Maintains a strong team focusing on "professional people development," accountability, respect and committing to results.

Minimum requirements:

Education and Experience :

  • Requires BA or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or related area. MBA is a plus

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in medium to large scale organization ideally in med tech industry

Knowledge and skills:

  • Confirmed experience to successfully lead others; Create an environment of collaboration & teamwork

  • Crucial that prospective candidates possess excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and understand the implications their actions and those of the Finance team will have on the strategic and organizational demands of a rapidly growing company

  • Results oriented; high eye for business/strategic orientation, influence leadership, change leadership – driving a change to execution seamlessly.

  • Strong discernment, including the ability to partner and communicate with line management and Danaher operating businesses, as needed

  • Engaging personality so that you are sought out as a solution provider and problem solver

  • Experience working with peers and leaders in non-accounting and financial functions (Sales, Marketing, Logistics)

  • Self-motivated with a bias for action with strong analytical skills and ability to utilize those skills to influence and motivate change

  • Detailed orientation, passion and curiosity to dive into problem areas before they become financial surprises
