Danaher Corporation Director, Global Product Management in Sunnyvale, California

POSITION SUMMARY:

Own global product portfolio within infectious disease diagnostic business. Develop and implement global product portfolio strategy and product roadmap. Drive new product development, launch, and lifecycle product management activities. Manage team of global product managers.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define global product strategy; drive and own product roadmap

  • Develop multi-year product development roadmap, aligned with overall Cepheid corporate strategic priorities

  • Incorporate regional and segment-specific inputs into product strategy & roadmap

  • Gather inputs from Global segment marketing to maintain product-strategy alignment

  • Incorporate regional feedback from Regional product marketing into product roadmap & NPD

  • Drive NPD-related processes (i.e., product development stage gates & launch excellence process)

  • Partner with R&D / Eng. to define product requirements (e.g., features, specs, cost / profitability metrics)

  • Develop product launch strategy and define value realization plan (e.g., revenue tracking schedule against investment case projections; data collection plan from each market)

  • Drive product lifecycle management

  • Monitor & manage value of on-market products in each market, in partnership with Regional product marketing

  • Drive coordination of product lifecycle activities post-launch (eg, major cost reduction and sustaining efforts)

  • Define product EOL strategy at global level

  • Engage external stakeholders for product development

  • Collaborate with MedSci affairs to engage KOLs and industry partners for technology / product co-creation

  • Support new market opportunities

  • Partner with Innovations team to help define how new market opportunities identified and validated by Global segment marketing could be supported by the product portfolio & roadmap

  • Set departmental priorities

  • Allocate resources to align with business objectives and annual plan

  • Leadership

  • Provides leadership to managers and professional associates to a high performing organization

  • Ability to hire, develop, motivate and retain top talent within scope of responsibility.

  • Responsible for setting a precedent for upholding the company culture and values to managers and employees

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

  • Ensure your associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of experience OR Master’s/Doctoral degree with 12+ years of experience AND 4+ years managing people

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of molecular IVD products and markets.

  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to multi-task across broad number of products and disease states.

  • Ability to work autonomously as well as the proven ability to work successfully within an international (virtual) team and matrix environment.

  • Excellent business development and management.

  • Hands-on in style, willing to ‘pitch in’ to get things done.

Other:

  • Mastery in spoken and written English

  • Fluency in other languages is an advantage

  • 25% travel, including international travel (China, South East Asia, India, Africa, LATAM, EU)
