Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, is the leader in low-volume liquid handling for the life sciences. We use acoustic droplet ejection to provide highly accurate, fully automated, nanoliter resolution, non-contact dispensing. With the elimination of tips, the ‘touchless’ ultrasound technology in Echo® Liquid Handlers delivers dramatically higher quality data and eliminates consumable costs.
Beckman Coulter’s Echo® Liquid Handlers are used in all the top 20 pharmaceutical companies, as well as in leading academic and research institutions worldwide. Applications include compound management, genomics, synthetic biology, proteomics, cell transfer, next generation sequencing, and precision medicine.
Beckman is currently seeking a highly motivated Document Control Specialist (Project Coordinator) to join its R&D team to support them with the creation, submission, tracking and reporting of documents, Change Orders (ECOs) and engineering purchase requisitions through all stages of the product life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Requisitions
Request quotes (RFQs) from suppliers
Create and Submit Engineering Purchase Requisitions
Track and regularly communicate the status of all orders
Change Orders
Work directly with Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Consumables Engineers to assist them in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) Process
Create and submit ECOs for new and existing parts, BOMs, documents, and products
Create part numbers and BOMs
Create spec sheets for off-the-shelf parts
Make drawing note redline updates using Solidworks
Review and/or create associated drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards
Assist in the writing and/or review of any kind of R&D document to ensure proper and legible formatting
Enter item attributes within the Change Order
Maintain proper revision control standards
Ensure all directives (such as RoHS 3) are met and documented correctly within the Change Order
Participate in cross-functional meetings with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Service teams to strategize the impact and timing of Change Orders
Track and Report on Change Orders. Assist others with questions or issues related to the Change Order process
Work within the EDMS (Electronic Document Management System) to submit Quality, Project and IDP related documentation
Other
Create and maintain Visual Management tools for tracking progress of documentation for all projects
Learn and understand Beckman’s Innovation Development Process (IDP) and associated document submission requirements for each phase
Participate in events (Kaizens) to help improve existing processes
Instruct others in the use of related software applications
Participate in all required corporate training
Key Qualifications:
AS/BS degree, or equivalent technical experience
3+ Years Engineering Documentation Development and Release
Strong English oral and technical writing skills is a must
Intermediate skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Key Attributes & Skills:
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills to manage multiple tasks with an ability to prioritize
Experience working with outside suppliers to get pricing and/or quotes, creating a purchase request and following up through delivery
Experience in digital records management in an engineering and/or manufacturing environment
Experience working with mechanical and electrical engineering documents and associated files
Experience with Arena (cloud-based PLM system), Oracle, Confluence is a plus
Experience using Solidworks to make note changes on drawings is a plus
