Danaher Corporation Optical Manufacturing Engineer (Test Engineer) in Sunnyvale, California
This optical manufacturing engineering position will develop, support manufacturing and test operations for production of diagnostic instruments. The position will perform troubleshooting and implement changes that improve manufacturing quality and product performance, via activities such as historical data analysis, test design, documentation, and implementation/validation of equipment and process changes. Candidate will collaborate with development to develop and refine process and specifications for new systems and/or identity changes to existing ones.
Design, document, and create efficient “mid-volume’ manufacturing assembly line including:
Workplace and flow process development
Specify, document, procure, qualify, and implement test fixtures.
Support prototype / production builds and resolve technical and quality issues
Provide product technical expertise and support to manufacturing line
Design and set up of experiments, as well as data collection and report/justification writing
Evaluate and select suppliers for LED and filter parts. Help resolve supplier quality issues.
Determine and incorporate critical feature inspection and test checkpoints into process.
Ability to analyze problems (troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, modification, or redesign) of company products using knowledge of engineering disciplines
Perform root cause analysis of field and internal failures and drive the corrective action
Define and implement performance/cost improvement opportunities
Maintenance and update of product functional specifications, with supporting documentation
Responsible for continual maturing of test infrastructure
Must demonstrate leadership skill, drive, and self-initiative to deliver clear business outcome.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
BS EE, Optical or Physics required, MS EE, Optical or Physics preferred.
5 years’ experience with test development for manufacturing with BS or 3+ years with MS.
Solid and current knowledge of optical, mechanical and/or electrical components
Strong problem solving and analysis skills and ability to compile clear and complete Root
Strong knowledge of statistics, Design of Experimentation (DOE), the Six Sigma method, and Risk analysis (FMEA, Cause and Effect, Fishbone Diagram etc.).
Cause Analysis documentation.
Must have excellent trouble shooting and debugging skills
Experience working in environments following FDA Good Manufacturing Practices, QSR, and ISO 13485
SQL experience preferred
Software development and validation experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
This position requires interface throughout all levels and functions of the organization; requires a cooperative team-balanced perspective for appropriate output and task outcome
This position requires a strong understanding of controls and process flow
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project).
