The role will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation, serving as a Subject Matter Expert in Environmental Health & Safety for Cepheid in at the level as well as in a global capacity.
This position is part of the EHS Team and will be located onsite in Sunnyvale. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Manage, implement and maintain EHS compliance and management systems and programs in accordance with governmental and company requirements and to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation
Partner with Cepheid site leaders to continuously improve the safety culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS programs: Interface with site EHS committees, as well as the Emergency Response and Crisis Management teams
Evaluate proposed Federal, state, and local EHS compliance laws and regulations to determine impact to compliance programs and business operations
Manage environmental compliance metrics including Storm, hazardous material management, Air permits, Life Safety, Hazardous Wastes, Form R reporting, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Programs and chemical tracking and inventory programs
Completes audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assists in pollution prevention activities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 0-2+ years of work experience.
Experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety and with EHS compliance and management systems and programs
Proven project management data management / analysis skills
Manage EHS training requirements globally, including travel both locally and internationally up to 30%
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experience working in a Medical device or IVD Manufacturing facility
Black or Green Belt Six Sigma or Lean Tools
