POSITION SUMMARY:

Supply Chain Platform Manager – material and supply chain program management for new product introduction and sustaining product planning across a platform. Manage BOM costs, supplier sourcing, supply planning for each product lifecycle phase through product launch, and manufacturing strategy for products within the platform. Drive design for cost and manufacturability, manage product cost, supplier requirements, data-based decision making, Risk Buy and Tooling decisions, manufacturing and supply chain readiness (capacity, continuity of supply, capability, Agreements), and manufacturing quality. Dynamic BOM stability and change management. Work closely with category managers to align sourcing for long term strategic plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • S erves as a Supply Chain leader to develop the overall instrument infrastructure to support current and future diagnostic test instruments.

  • Forms and leads cross-functional supply chain operations teams (comprised of Supply Chain, category managers, Supplier Quality, Mfg Engineering, Supplier Engineering, Planning, and Logistics) to define sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for new products, including recommendations for new supplier selection & evaluation as part New Product Introduction.

  • Serves as single point of contact to the Supply Chain team to confirm supplier and production readiness in terms of production capacity and approved critical parts manufacturing prior to key product milestones

  • Manages the transition within the Platform: NPI & Supplier Change Management from development phase to pilot production then to volume production and support of the associated project schedules.

  • Analysis of total cost of goods for each project with extended analytics in make versus buy decision criteria.

  • Leadership in adhering to the product development process of test and verification as part of the product release process.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and influence supplier selection and guide alignment to a sustainable long term supply chain and manufacturability. Work with the commodity team to manage sourcing alignment with the strategy.

  • Drive and manage the outsourced manufacturing partners and the interface between the NPI Development team and the Operations.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education or Experience (in years):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related work experience OR

    Master’s degree in field with 8+ years of related work experience OR

    Doctoral degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience.

    Knowledge and skills:

  • Perform regular cost rollups and analyze product cost performance and manufacturing cost models to drive corrective action as required to achieve product cost targets, and manage the product cost roadmap and establish standard costs prior to production release.

  • Fundamental understanding of should-cost or cost allocation & recognizes opportunities to improve product design for cost/quality/delivery with early supplier involvement. Drives resolution to systemic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, assets. Supports new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the strategic supply base.

  • Work collaboratively with supply chain, logistics, and engineering stakeholders; develop supplier selection process for piece parts or outsourced assemblies and identify supply chain risks supporting sourcing decisions.

  • Responsible for resolving discrepancies between cost targets and quoted costs, creates and delivers presentations to program executives and CFT stakeholders. Be a thought leader to drive progress, efficiency, and optimization in process and product development.

  • Provides feedback to engineering on DFx (cost, manufacturability), and manages resources to drive the assessment. Leverage Supplier expertise where applicable.

  • Engages with the PLC process to ensure alignment with the product deliverables for each phase and manages the Supply Chain deliverables.

    Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Some travel domestically and internationally is required (20%)

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (optional):

  • Direct or related equipment or healthcare industry technical program management experience

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP

  • Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's)

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to operate independent of day to day supervision

  • Direct experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt, critical thinking skills, and problem solve under pressure

  • Contract/Supply Agreement Negotiations a plus
