The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis and U.S. Commercial Finance is a key contributor to the overall success of the company and will provide financial and business leadership to the organization as well as talent development of the FP&A team. In addition to leading the Global FP&A function, this position also leads the NA Commercial Finance team and works closely with Global and Regional Commercial leadership teams to develop and execute strategies that drive growth and profitability. The VP will be responsible for leading the development of the strategic and annual operating plans, financial forecasts, management reports and supporting a wide range of decision support analytics. S/he will be responsible for implementing the systems, processes, and controls to drive financial discipline in decision making and driving a culture of financial accountability.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate and operational finance in a manufacturing organization and an in-depth FP&A background with a demonstrated track record of leading the teams to compile and analyze information and provide deep insights that enable optimal business decision making. In addition, we are looking for a strong leader who conveys the energy and credibility to accomplish our goals and the experience to lead and mentor a rapidly growing organization.

This position is part of the Finance organization and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA as a hybrid role. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead and oversee strategic and annual operating plans, quarterly and monthly forecast updates, predictive analytics, internal reporting, and performance management against projections.

• Drive the budgeting processes and optimize expense management within the business, driving efficiencies and ensuring that investments are suitably analyzed, and operational costs appropriately controlled.

• Support the month end accounting close processes and lead the preparation of all financial materials for management and operational reviews as well as reporting to Danaher Corporate.

• Lead the development and monitoring of key operational metrics to drive financial performance. Identify and pursue process/profitability improvements across the company.

• Manage the company P&L to ensure we meet and achieve all of our performance targets and ensure leadership has visibility into risks and opportunities.

• Function as a thought leader by providing analytical insight and perspective to senior management. Proactively assess new business opportunities and their impact to the financial and business goals of the company.

• Provide leadership to the FP&A team, constantly raising the bar of expectation and develop a world class organization, establish global best practices, and instill a culture that emphasizes accountability, integrity, and transparency.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• B.S. degree preferably in finance or accounting. MBA and/or CPA preferred.

• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in a complex, multinational, multi-site environment. Experience working in a matrixed organization and a manufacturing environment highly desirable.

• Experience in implementing and/or managing financial planning tools and processes.

• Deep understanding of US GAAP and fundamental understanding of cost accounting practices.

• Continuous improvement mentality. Ability to challenge the norms and existing processes.

• Strong leadership skills with experience in growing and leading a high-performance team.

• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.

• Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in ambiguous and frequently changing situations.

Preferred Experience in a Vice President role within the Finance Industry.

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $300k-$360k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
