Danaher Corporation Vice President, Global Fulfillment and Distribution in Sunnyvale, California

POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President of Global Fulfillment and Distribution will lead the operational aspects of the global logistics, shipping, warehousing and order fulfillment. Including safe warehouse operations, compliance, inventory control, freight, strategy, budget management and last mile customer satisfaction. Position will lead 275 associates in global locations, > $50M operating budget with last mile impact on customer service / revenue recognition. The position has responsibility for implementing and administering all systems and procedures to control inventories and customer orders, as well as insuring the efficient flow of all materials necessary for production and all support functions. Includes initiating improvements in logistics operation and facilitates strategic outlook that will better serve all stakeholders. These activities include all personnel recruiting/development and budgeting. Primary responsible is to ensure safety and compliant practices across a wide range of geographies.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a group comprising of both hourly associates in diverse geographies worldwide.

  • Build and deploy global vision, strategy and execution for Fulfillment / Logistics

  • Expand capacity and implement warehouse strategy globally

  • Leads process and teams to manage inventory accuracy worldwide

  • Manage >$50M in freight budget, own freight recovery, budget and strategy

  • Ensure safe practices in a dangerous environment

  • Develop and deploy fulfillment strategy with order management teams

  • Manage 3PL network and suppliers for logistics including SLAs

  • Manage relationships with commercial, financial teams and with local site leaders globally

  • Lead trade compliance and systems implementation

  • Lead large team of IL and DL in warehousing, shipping and distribution functions

  • Administers and directs the implementation of departmental policies & procedures in accordance with Government (DEA, cGMP, FDA,) and Company Policies, Procedures, Goals and Objectives.

  • Directs the preparation and administration of the operating and expense budgets, freight expense budgets, and group capital project budgets, in accordance purchasing policies of the company.

  • Develops and implements long term strategies for Customs, DEA, and Transportation compliance.

  • Direct the Warehousing and Distribution compliance with all country, state and city specific distribution and warehousing regulations necessary to support customer requirements.

  • Directs and administers the selection and performance of freight carriers to maximize the service & security to our domestic and international customers.

  • Directs the development of technical training programs to support Warehousing and Distribution operations and ensures that all employees are trained appropriately to perform their job functions in order to maximize their efficiency and productivity.

  • Develops strategy to support global network and customer requirements

  • Implements systems and processes to support best-in-class delivery

  • Supports the analytics needed to run a complex web of distribution and fulfillment centers around the world including company owned and 3PLs

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

  • For people managers, ensure your associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience OR

  • Master’s/Doctoral degree with 18+ years of experience AND

  • 6+ years managing people

Knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in logistics, materials management, warehousing and distribution, or supply chain management with excellent cross-functional people leadership is required.

  • Demonstrated experience leading through subordinate managers of managers and contributing to the development of functional/operational long-term strategy.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of FDA, DEA, and DOT standards and regulations,

  • Experience with SAP/ SAP analytics platforms (BW), multiple inventory systems (WMS, FMS, POD systems and or equivalent ERP system.

  • Experience managing internal warehouses and extensive 3PL networks worldwide.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage complex spreadsheets, systems and processes; demonstrated command of analytics.

  • Familiar with the correct handling, storage and disposal of raw materials used in biomedical device, pharmaceutical manufacturing

  • Proven track record of managing safety and compliance systems across multiple geographies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as high ethical standards; ability to manage cross functionally and within the C-Suite

  • Proven business/financial acumen, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, solve complex problems, and drive change at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven ability to work on cross-functional, multi-cultural teams deployed globally

  • Proven ability to meet deadline in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and implement team projects

  • Negotiates with senior leaders across the business and influences the opinions of others within the business unit and in external organizations; exercises sensitivity to the audience

Physical requirements/abilities:

  • Ability to work in an office environment

  • Ability to work in a warehouse and distribution environment

  • Travel up to 50% to domestic and international locations

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • MBA or MS or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain

  • Global experience managing cross-functionally across multiple sites

  • 5 to 8 years demonstrated experience in a logistics leadership capacity of multiple global facilities in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry leading teams > 250 associates.

  • Knowledge and application of cGMP and 21 CFR Parts 21O & 211 preferred.

  • CPM/APICS certification.
