The Global Market Development Manager – Clinical and Biopharma serves as the market vertical focused strategic resource for clinical for the larger organization while also supporting the biopharma market. This individual’s focus is to develop and communicate strategic plans for driving growth in these verticals while maintaining a pulse on the market including: identifying potential collaboration efforts, market trends and changes, regulations, customer needs, and competitor activity. The individual will also support the clinical and biopharma markets in the development of go-to-market plans, positioning strategies and the production of marketing content.
This individual will lead with influence and will be required to work cross functionally with members of the Product Management, Market Intelligence, Product Marketing, Sales, and the Application Laboratory. This role will contribute to companywide strategic efforts and will require that this individual be able to present and propose critical initiatives at an executive level.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess the clinical market and key biopharma initiatives to better understand customer needs and best strategies for Phenomenex. Work closely with sales, product marketing and application lab to ensure customer needs are met short and long term:
Go to Market Strategy: define what we need to present to the marketplace which includes messaging, technical content, branding, etc. and develop appropriate marketing material to distribute to customers
Competitive Strategy: define how will we compete with existing products and technologies
Applications Strategy: identify which applications are needed to win as well as what KOL collaborations can be developed.
New Product Development strategy: work with Product Managers to define what new technologies, products, or services we can offer to resolve customer problems and define the attractive market opportunity
Growth Strategy: develop market growth strategy including key customer identification, product and application offerings, and pricing or discount strategies
Regularly collect market intelligence through primary/secondary market research and voice of customer (VOC) to support short- and long-term strategic efforts
Create high level content to support strategic efforts including webinars, seminars, technical notes, and advertising collateral as well as provide technical sales training
Build and execute marketing initiatives to support lead generation and work with tradeshow / event managers to promote clinical and biopharma markets
Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. degree in science-related field preferred
5-7+ years of related experience in the clinical or biopharma market segments
Experience with HPLC, GC, and/or sample preparation techniques
Energetic self-starter with initiative to drive projects and deliver results on time
Creative problem solver with good intuitive judgment and strong analytical abilities
Available for up to 25% travel
