GENERAL SUMMARY:The Instrumentation Technician II is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairing, moving, and troubleshooting High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Ion Exchange Chromatography (IC HPLC), pH Meters, Analytical Balances, Pumps, Pipettes, Weights, Gauges, Flow Meters, Thermometers, and Sonicators in the Quality organization. In addition, they are responsible for documenting all service activities in Maintenance Connect and Zendesk.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform preventative maintenance on HPLC systems and testing accessories.
Perform troubleshooting and repair activities on instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable data generation Support Total Productive Maintenance activities for work areas.
Maintain Kanban systems for each work area.
Moving HPLC systems when required Communication with functional area leadership regarding instrument performance and uptime.
Convert HPLC data into graphs in MS Excel Rebuild flow cells and manual injectors Modify/Create test methods in Chemstation and Chromeleon when necessary Update equipment tracking software (e.g. – Maintenance Connect, Zendesk) Use Zendesk to close tickets and run analytical reporting.
Troubleshoot network/communication issues between equipment and computers Coordinate with IT the installation of new equipment and software installation.
Contact external vendors as needed.
Work with Procurement to order needed supplies.
Maintain regular inventory of maintenance and repair parts.
Update applicable metric boards with key performance metrics related to instrument performance.
Ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner and properly closed in tracking software.
Actively maintain a clean working environment.
Requires schedule flexibility to work “offset” shifts and align with Production and Quality Control testing.
Adhere to assigned timelines and due dates for assigned preventative maintenance tasks to maximize testing output.
Communicate essential updates to leadership verbally and/or in writing, as needed.
Provide assistance in other areas as needed. Operate safely in work areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma (Required)
College Degree in Natural Sciences (Preferred)
Minimum 3 years preferred using Agilent HPLC systems and chromatography software
Be able to troubleshoot communication issues between HPLC and computer
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Be able to convert data into graphs using Microsoft Excel
Able to follow, understand, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Requires good organizational and time-management skills.
