Danaher Corporation Aquatic Informatics - Senior DevOps Engineer (Remote) in Vancouver, British Columbia

This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement in which you can work remotely from your home in Canada. Several locations have been listed for marketing purposes but only one position is available.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Product Security and Cloud Operations, your role will be to help develop, operate, maintain, and improve cutting edge SaaS cloud solutions for our broad customer base in the water industry. The position will be responsible for setting up, managing, and monitoring Aquatic Informatics (AQI) SaaS platform. You will work together with the Software Engineering teams to bring our SAAS infrastructure to the next level and continually improve our cloud infrastructure. We seek a passionate, proactive team player who can scale across roles and is adept at working in diverse team environment.


  • Perform Cloud operation environment maintenance including AQI software product updates, operating system updates, and security enhancements

  • Adhere to governance policies, procedures, and record keeping to achieve various information security and product security compliance

  • Perform monitoring and reporting activities to ensure all systems and services meet Service Level Agreements

  • Proactively identify opportunities and implement cloud operations continuous improvements, process efficiency, and cost reduction

  • Create and update automated tools to build infrastructure, monitoring, and alerts.

  • Coding and/or scripting solutions to automate processes for continuous improvements

  • Participate in system design and planning sessions for the development and maintenance of production cloud services that effectively reflect business needs, security requirements, and service level requirements.

  • Be part of the scheduled on-call off-hours support for critical operational tasks needed to meet Service Level Agreements

  • Write and maintain related documentation

  • Assist with department objectives as well as any other duties as required


  • 6-10 years experience with cloud-based platforms such as Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, ELB, VPC, S3, etc.) to develop and maintain highly available and scalable systems

  • Experience with one or more cloud infrastructure and configuration management systems: Terraforms, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef

  • Experience or knowledge of CI/CD technologies deployment and maintenance (Jenkins, Nexus)

  • Experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python or other scripting languages

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes workflows and customer facing environments

  • Experience working with virtualization technologies such as VMware

  • Experience with administering databases such as SQL, Oracle and Postgres

  • Full understanding of the software development life cycle as well as related technologies in order to coordinate with Product and Development teams

  • Comfortable working with Linux environment

  • Knowledge of current and emerging cloud and IaaS security trends


  • Experience with one or more of the following standards: ISO 27001, ITIL

  • Certifications: ITIL, Cisco, Database, AWS, Microsoft

  • Experience with Azure environments

  • Experience in writing infrastructure as code using Terraform and CloudFormation (ECS, EC2, VPC, EIP, ALB, NLB, R53)

  • Experience in configuration management tools like Chef and Ansible
