Position Summary

We are hiring for a new Scientist - Reagents NPI to join our growing Product Development team. This role will work closely with R&D scientists and other departments to transfer work into a production environment. You will own the transfer of reagent products from R&D to production. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including technical documentation, training and implementation of new processes. You will also support the continuous improvement current reagent products.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, document, and manage a new product introduction (NPI) process for the transfer of new reagent products from R&D to production

  • Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement of existing reagent products

  • Lead and co-ordinate NPI and continuous improvement tasks across various departments including manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, product management and R&D

  • Create an action plan, timeline, and identify resources needed to achieve project goals

  • Setup and manage parts and assemblies for reagent products within a PLM system

  • Lead reagent product process FMEA’s

  • Participate in cross-functional product and project meetings

  • Prepare technical documentation for reagent products including work instructions, SOPs, batch records and SDS

  • Provide hands-on training to manufacturing technicians on reagent production techniques, processes and best practices

  • Oversee implementation of pilot batch production and process improvements for ongoing production

  • Provide guidance on reagent labspace and facilities requirements

  • Support the sourcing of key raw materials and product components from external vendors including chemicals, vials and packaging

  • Support the investigation of production and customer issues

  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

Experience and Education

  • A Masters or PhD degree in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering or a related discipline

  • 8 years experience in the life sciences industry including significant experience in a technical operations or production support role

  • Significant experience working in a wet lab environment with extensive knowledge of common laboratory techniques including aseptic handling and related best practices

  • Strong theoretical and hand-on understanding of chemistry and chemical safety

  • Experience working with ERP and PLM systems

  • Experience working under an ISO quality management system
