About the opportunity
As a UI/UX Co-op at Aquatic Informatics, you will become an integral member of our User Experience (UX) Team. You will help us keep UX as a differentiator for our products! You will work with our designers, developers and product specialists to define and create workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. Some of your work will be reviewing implemented and work-in-progress software and helping developers correctly apply the Aquatic Informatics UX/UI guidelines. You will hear and see users work with our tools, and you will have the opportunity to facilitate user sessions.
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution
You are passionate about user experience and design
Keen to learn about software engineering and technology; incessantly inquisitive
You are familiar with the latest trends and patterns in web and mobile design
Knowledge in one of the following areas is an asset:
User interface conventions and UI pattern-driven design
Wireframe prototyping and creating high-fidelity mock-ups
User-centric design methodologies, including user testing
Design for analytics and data visualization
Experience with one of the industry-standard UI design tools: Adobe XD, Sketch, or Figma
Thrive on solving technical problems
Resourceful and independent, while being a contributing member of a collaborative team
Constantly seek ways to do things better
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated interest in keeping up to date with current technology and UX best practices
Completion of one or more previous co-op terms is an asset
