What you'll do

This is a field-based technical sales role, working with biomolecular imagers and scanner instruments and the associated consumable products. Working closely with an account management team, the BioImaging Sales Specialist provides customers with expert product knowledge, training and support, whilst working to generate sales from new and existing customers.

The customer base includes Academic customers and biotech or pharma companies owning systems used for cutting edge life sciences research. Key aspects of the sales specialist role include hunting for new business and working with customers to drive new sales through instrument replacement, adding capacity and competitor displacement. Working with a wide variety of customers and applications, technical responsibilities include application support, running instrument demonstrations installation (Camera) and customer training.

The role will require the individual to participate within a matrix sales environment.

  • Is accountable to achieve orders and sales target for the Imaging product range in the assigned territory.

  • Understand customers’ goals, build strong business relationships and formulate account strategies to generate effective long-term partnerships with accounts.

  • Provide high level technical expertise during pre-sales discussions, instrument demonstrations, customer training, post-sales support, seminars, tenders and promotional events.

  • Continuously develop a network of key decision makers. Build a territory business plan and set quarterly priorities to achieve defined business goals. Contribute to key account plans managed by the Account Management team.

  • Differentiate our offering during the various stages of the sales process, using approved product marketing material to actively support the customer throughout their decision-making process towards a successful outcome for Cytiva.

  • Develop sales opportunities to create a sales funnel to meet business targets. Manage leads and prospects using Salesforce Lightning customer relationship management software.

  • Use sales analytics to aid decision making and sales strategy planning. Prepare and participate in business reviews to ensure accurate flow of information within the sales team and sales management.

  • Be an ambassador for Cytiva, working with the highest levels of integrity and professionalism always.

  • Work effectively in a matrix environment. Build a strong internal network to drive maximum synergy and customer satisfaction across the business. Work effectively with internal functions, including the account management team, other sales specialists, service engineering, product management, marketing, finance, legal, scientific support, service sales and customer service.

  • Work with customers to differentiate our position against competitors. Maintain up to date detailed knowledge of competitors’ products, market and industry.

  • Track and communicate market trends, including competitor intelligence. Know sources of customer funding and creditworthiness.

  • Be able to present and discuss our technology, applications and benefits in terms which are relevant to customers.

    Who you are

  • University level degree in a Life Science related discipline. Life sciences PhD or equivalent experience is highly desirable.

  • Detailed knowledge of proteins and imaging technologies (western blotting, chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and colorimetric imaging, images acquisition and quantification) gained from working in research, or equivalent commercial experience.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with biomolecular imager, scanner systems and analysis software. Experience with Amersham biomolecular imagers and Typhoon scanners is highly desirable. Additional training will be provided.

  • Ability to travel is essential since the role is customer-facing with 70-80% time in the field when COVID-19 allows. Driver´s license

  • French and good English language skills

  • Preferably based in Ile de France

  • Customer-centric attitude, able to balance the needs of the customer and Cytiva.

  • The ability to comprehend Cytiva’s technology and relate this information to others in an easy-to-understand way.

  • Commercial experience is desirable, but not essential. Extensive sales training can be provided.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience in giving compelling technical seminars and/or product demonstrations is highly desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, plus experience of using these skills to participate in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work effectively and enjoy being part of a team. Positive attitude always, able to energize colleagues, collaborate and build rapport.

  • Desire to develop self, through receiving coaching, training and focus on personal development.

  • Self-starter able to manage time and organise and prioritise workload.

  • Persistence and tenacity in managing sales prospects and closing business.

  • Humble, able to relate to all levels of staff, internal and external.

  • A proven track record of achieving and exceeding goals.

French and good English language skills
