Life Science Automation Field Applications Specialist

Beckman Coulter is currently recruiting for the post of Life Science Automation Applications Specialist within the Life Science division.

Position: Life Science Automation Field Applications Specialist Location: Europe

Reporting to: Manager European Life Science Automation Applications Group

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the applications support of Beckman Coulter Life Science Automation and the Agencourt range of nucleic acid extraction and purification chemistries. The role will involve support for Biomek Liquid Handlers, Assay Workstations and Industrial Robot systems as well genomics support including implementation of Next Generation Sequencing automation. The successful candidate will have European wide responsibility with focus on France, flexibility to support global projects in some occasions is appreciated. The post holder will have a shared sales target for Life Science Automation hardware & consumables and Agencourt products.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide customer satisfaction through complex applications development, troubleshooting and diagnosis on bespoke automated systems.

  • Participate in implementation of liquid handlers and integrated systems.

  • Capable of providing training and guidance for customers and Beckman Coulter sales/applications specialists

  • Pre-sales responsibilities to include customer demonstration and proactive protocol development

  • Effective written and oral communication with customers and Beckman Coulter staff.



  • The ideal candidate will be educated toBSc Standard or equivalent in a Biological or related subject, and must possess a full clean driving license. The ideal candidate lives centrally in France, with good connection to a major airport. The position is home-based and will require approximately 70% travel.

  • Knowledge of French and English required, any additional language is an advantage

  • Candidates should ideally have at least 1 year hands-on experience with Laboratory Automation

  • Candidates should have a molecular biology background and experience in Next Generation Sequencing is highly desirable

  • Previous experience of technical or application support within a Diagnostic or Life Science Company would be beneficial

  • Previous technical training/ experience within a laboratory setting is highly desirable especially with Laboratory Automation equipment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a self-motivated personality, who enjoys working on their own as well as part of a team is crucial in this role.
