The Head of New Product Planning & Research Area Insights is responsible for maintaining input processes for our global new product development (NPD) engines and maximizing value from our R&D data. We require an experienced leader to develop business intelligence solutions that translate customer need into tangible plans aligned to our portfolio innovation strategy, and be responsible for delivering actionable insights from our R&D and product data.
This position reports to the VP New Product Development and is part of the Research Areas, Custom and Collaborations department.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
· Govern our new product pipeline input processes into R&D to drive successful delivery of world-leading proteomic tools aligned to our Portfolio strategy.
· Lead a small team of product and data experts.
· Bring analytical expertise and build robust processes to (1) support high-quality data in our NPD systems to drive Abcam’s engine of growth, (2) generate insights to support making the right investment choices to maximize value across product portfolios, working closely with our Product Management teams, (3) support company-wide governance around our innovation processes.
· Influence the design and development of AI tools to deliver customer-centric reagents across our NPD platforms.
· Interrogate data to identify trends, patterns and insights that support good-decision making for product development efficiencies and revenue growth across portfolios.
· Work closely with our global R&D Platform, Product Portfolio Leads and Digital teams to monitor and analyze development data, customer needs and market insight, using these as inputs to continuously improve our processes and choices.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Proactive analytical, data-driven approach to solving unmet customer needs, improving operational costs and driving value creation.
Lead and mentor the team, ensuring continuous development and motivation.
Ability to effectively communicate data insights through presentations and reports, ensuring key messages are relayed effectively to experts and non-experts across a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong understanding of data governance with a proven ability to source, curate and analyze complex data sets. Effectively relay key messages to non-experts and present new product value to the wider organization.
Ability to identify and use a range of analytical techniques and adopt those most appropriate for the problem statement.
Strong understanding of financial budgets, operational management of product pipelines, allocation of resources and ROI calculations.
Develop impactful relationships and networks within R&D, Portfolio, Digital and Sales teams, connecting and consulting the right subject matter experts and influencing cross-functionally.
Being comfortable working in a matrix environment where success is achieved through listening, collaborating and influencing.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Knowledge of antibody development
Knowledge of data analytical techniques (e.g. multivariate regression analysis, predictive modelling) and some knowledge of data analysis and visualization in Python / R
