Danaher Corporation Data Management Specialist, EHS in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

Position Summary

This position will provide support to the EHS department by managing data as a source of information to support global EHS and sustainability goals and strategic initiatives. Primary corporate interface working with operating companies on EHS data reporting, gathering, analysis and systems improvements through the EHS Information Management Systems.

Responsible for bowlers and periodic performance reporting. Supports and promotes efficient and effective use of EHS department software applications and performs EHS invoice processing and reconciliation.

Often of critical and confidential nature, the work requires a broad knowledge of departmental and company policies and procedures with attention to detail and accuracy to problem solve, gather facts and information and to provide information in a diverse global environment. This position requires managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Must be independent, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to those identified below, other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the maintenance & development of SharePoint global EHS website

  • Support the development and maintenance of appropriate methodologies for the collection, consolidation, and verification of EHS and other sustainability data and metrics.

  • Manage the collection, consolidation, and verification of EHS and other sustainability data and metrics.

  • EHS IMS system administrator - responsible for the configuration, upgrades and overall software administration for Corporate.

  • Educate and train applicable personnel on the processes for tracking and submitting required data.

  • Manage the third-party platform the Company uses to collect and maintain EHS and other sustainability data and metrics, including overseeing system architecture and managing all aspects of the relationship.

  • Perform data mining as required for internal and external requests, generate visuals and dashboard for Corporate requests; develop enhanced reporting to ensure timely, accurate report generation

  • Regularly benchmark key peer company EHS/sustainability data and metrics

  • To the extent deemed appropriate, support the internal or external assurance of key data.

  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of data gathering, analysis and reporting to support key EHS sustainability initiatives

  • Risk Assessment data and reporting

  • Open Matters and process/post/reconcile EHS invoices

  • Support EHS audit planning, report generation and corrective action/findings tracking and follow-up


  • Proficient with the following software applications: GenSuite, Intelex, Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Legal Tracker, TimberScan, and SharePoint website software.

  • Data management skills including planning, budgeting, validation, stakeholders, time, and prioritization management.

  • Analytic skills including data gathering, interpretation and communication.

  • Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues and recommending solutions.

  • Ability to create, share and exchange information in global virtual communities and networks.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (concentration in Environmental Health & Safety, computer science, or informational technology preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience is required, inclusive of 2 years data analytics and/or IT technology experience is required. EHS IT technology experience is preferred. Testing experience is a plus.

  • Experience in managing multiple technical projects at same time is required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within global, cross-functional teams as well as ability to work independently

Language Skills

English fluency required. Additional language skills are beneficial.
