The Danaher Manager, Sustainability Controller is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing a system of controls with respect to Danaher’s publicly-reported sustainability data, to support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements as well as external assurance requirements. The position will engage across functions to ensure the development, implementation and effective sustainment of controls appropriate to each functional area; will engage with Danaher’s corporate sustainability function to ensure coordination of the controls with Danaher’s enterprise sustainability data platform; and will engage with Danaher’s internal audit function and external auditors to support effective and efficient internal audit oversight of external sustainability reporting. The overall goal of the role is to support the integrity of Danaher’s publicly-disclosed sustainability data.
This position is part of the Corporate Finance function and will be located onsite in Washington D.C.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead the Finance organization’s contribution to the development and execution of sustainability reporting through the design and implementation of robust internal controls for sustainability data reporting. This includes supporting Danaher’s corporate sustainability function in the development, implementation and maintenance of a sustainability data system across Danaher’s global operations
Collaborate closely with all relevant functions to develop, implement and oversee policies, processes, and internal controls that support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and the integrity of Danaher’s publicly-disclosed sustainability data. Contribute to the preparation and review of Danaher’s public sustainability disclosures (including Danaher’s SEC filings such as Annual Reports, Form 10-K/Q, Proxy Statement, etc.)
Engage with Danaher’s internal and external audit functions to support effective and efficient internal audit oversight of external sustainability reporting and successful external assurance to the extent such assurance is either required or elected by Danaher, including establishing appropriate processes
Stay updated on emerging sustainability-related regulations, industry trends, and reporting frameworks, and provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on evolving issues and best practices related to sustainability data assurance and controls
Provide training and education to internal stakeholders to enhance awareness and understanding related to sustainability data assurance and controls
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent) with 7+ years of professional experience, (including 4+ years experience in a public accounting firm ; large international accounting firm is preferred) OR Master's degree in field with 7+ years experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 4+ years experience.
A strong working knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls, with an ability to analyze and translate internal control requirements into workable information for communication to operating management
Strong global business perspective with capability of operating in a fast-moving, ever-changing cross-functional, matrixed organization
Fast learner who can rapidly adapt to Danaher’s culture and gain the confidence of corporate, platform and operating company leaders. Ability to work independently yet manage multiple projects simultaneously
Detail oriented and demonstrate critical thinking, with the ability to analyze complicated issues and boil these down to the key points, develop action plans, and implement them
Preferred skills and experience:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) equivalent being preferred
Knowledge of sustainability reporting rules/regulations
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $150,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
