Maintenance Mechanic - Graveyard Shift

We are looking for a Graveyard Shift Maintenance Mechanic who knows how to work with a diverse and multi-cultural team, who can provide excellent service and support for our on-site employees and manufacturing operations. Our new Maintenance Mechanic will respond to work requests, emergency calls, and perform & coordinate preventive maintenance activities to help ensure that our internal customers are well taken care of and that the production equipment and critical manufacturing operations continue to operate reliably and efficiently.

This position is part of the Microbiology Operating Company nested within Beckman Coulter and is located in West Sacramento. At Microbiology, our vision is to ensure we that every patient has access to right antibiotic at the right time as one of the leading ID/AST companies.

If you get this job, you will:

  • Participate in and perform emergency repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and complete work orders as assigned.

  • Participate in and perform equipment safety inspections, departmental inspections and 5S organizational and clean-up activities.

  • Participate in and perform a multitude of tasks including (but not limited to) manufacturing equipment maintenance, opening/closing work requests, generating shift reports, filling out logbook entries and other required documentation, placing purchase order requests, replenishing spare parts inventory, attending departmental meetings, assisting with Facilities work requests, and daily check-ins with maintenance mechanics, equipment operators, and shift supervisors.

  • Participate in mandatory company-provided training including (but not limited to) manufacturing policies and procedures, EHS/safety training, business conduct guidelines, security procedures, housekeeping procedures, information security awareness, and compliance training.

  • May be periodically required to work on alternate shifts such as day or swing shifts – some weekend work required.

  • Associate’s degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training required. HS diploma or equivalent required. A combination of relevant work experienced and certification in Electrical, Welding, or other relevant job skill may be accepted in lieu of an Associate’s degree.

  • 2-5 years of successful experience working as a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic in a Manufacturing/Production environment and/or other FDA regulated industry is preferred.

  • Must be able to safely and effectively troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Medical Manufacturing equipment related to Printing, Filling, Packaging, Glasswashing, Autoclaving, Drying, and other manufacturing processes as needed. These repairs may include the use of basic hand tools as well as a mill, lathe, drill press, and/or welding equipment.

  • Must be able to work safely with and troubleshoot systems powered by both high and low voltage electrical systems. Previous electrical troubleshooting and repair experience required.

  • Must be able to use a computer to send and receive e-mail, open and update work orders, enter time sheet information, and have the ability to learn and utilize computerized work order and PM systems (CMMS). Previous CMMS experience preferred.

  • Must be able to demonstrate technical and mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.

  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize assigned tasks.

  • Must be able to be self-motivated/self-directed and able to work unassisted for several hours each night.
