Danaher Corporation Commercial Development Manager, Gene Therapy in Westborough, Massachusetts
The Sales Development Manager is responsible for establishing positive relationships with gene-therapy Academic, Biotech and Large Pharma clients—including executive level, project champions, and key end-users—to successfully promote Pall Biotech’s upstream and downstream technology platforms, services and capabilities including single-use systems, bioreactors, purification technologies and all other Pall Biotech products. This person in this position mentors local account managers, sales specialists and business developers to achieve the gene therapy commercial targets. The successful candidate will develop new gene-therapy customers within assigned region by actively prospecting and qualifying specification opportunities and positioning Pall technologies and capabilities at customers developing antibody and recombinant proteins.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities:
Meet or exceed monthly and annual shipment and orders targets assigned by Pall Biotech management via direct sales activities with customers, and by collaborating with Pall account managers, product line specialists and technical pre-sale specialists.
Position, present and demonstrate Pall Biotech systems and consumable technologies within customer process development and manufacturing groups in collaboration with technical specialist teams.
Gain critical insight on customer biotech/biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and formulate strategies to develop and support solutions that achieve or exceed customers’ needs and expectations and simultaneously expand Biotech’s business by gaining market share in existing and new accounts.
Work closely with various core functional groups within Pall (including process engineering, project management, laboratory services, marketing, product management, inside sales, supply chain, manufacturing, etc.) to formulate and advise an effective team strategy to ensure customers’ needs are met in a timely manner and sales opportunities are won.
In conjunction with marketing identify and develop new Gene-Therapy opportunities (from pipeline/drug tracking information or company start up level).
Work with marketing to track and report progress metrics for penetration of drug pipeline
Master and/or Bachelor Degree in biological science/biochemistry/biochemical engineering or general life science/engineering or relevant field. PhD a plus
Minimum of 8 years’ experience required, with 3-5 years of biotech technologies in similar industry
5+ years selling relevant life science or related technologies with a specialist understanding of the biotech/biopharm manufacturing process flow.
Leads others in providing complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives; work is guided by functional policies
Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
Experience with financial forecasting, modeling and competitive tools, executing Voice of Customer, market research and market segmentation.
Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel.
