Pall Biotech, a business unit of Pall Corporation is hiring for our new General Manager, Gene Therapy. This position reports to the Vice President and General Manager of Pall Biotech and based at our Life Science Center of Excellence site located in Westborough, MA. We are the global leaders in filtration, separation and purification solutions with annual revenue in excess of $3B

As our General Manager you will:

Lead the global commercial go-to-market strategy, ownership for growth and profitability of this business including strategic planning, product management and development. This role requires a hands-on leader to drive business growth, marketing initiatives and brand strategy. In this role you will balance innovative product visions with successful product executions, and in turn delegate and oversee work on multiple projects concurrently. The General Manager is a relationship builder and gains followership with key internal and external contacts.


Business Unit Strategy

  • Develop a roadmap to achieve sustained market-beating growth, including investments required to achieve strategic plan.

  • Direct market research and customer studies necessary to understand customer needs.

  • Identify and explore new and adjacent technologies. Structure external partnerships to develop and produce technologies necessary to achieve business unit growth and profitability goals.

  • Develop intellectual property (IP) protection strategy and collaborate with the legal team to defend our IP.

  • Lead proactive communications with Key Opinion Leaders from strategy to execution to support revenue achievement and product innovation.

New Product Development and Commercialization

  • Direct analysis on product features, priorities, and value proposition of products based on competitive analysis, customer needs and market segmentation to advance approved projects through the new product development tollgate process.

  • Identify and oversee execution of process or product improvements that contribute to customer experience improvement, top-line growth and margin expansion for the company.

  • Partner with global commercial teams to develop and execute on new product launch plans.

Business Unit Leadership:

  • Lead monthly operating reviews on product line sales growth, market share, and critical project priorities.

  • Participate in commercial meetings and reviews to root cause sales misses and pursue growth opportunities.

  • Investigate competitive offerings to determine the manufacturers and distributors that are taking share and why they are winning.

  • Gather market data and intelligence to make product price and promotion recommendations.

  • Identify and explore new business models across equipment, software, consumable products and services, and partner with global commercial teams to implement and drive growth.

  • Develop pricing strategies and processes to maximize gross margin while protecting market share and use sales tools to enable effective selling of business unit products and services.

  • Actively engage with R&D, Operations, Quality and Sales teams to identify and resolve issues affecting growth and profitability.

  • Partner with Corporate Pall Marketing organization to employ best practices in customer segmentation, customer experience, portfolio management, competitive positioning, and market assessment.

  • Partner with the Biotech Marketing organization on all forms of external communications including PR, direct marketing, channel marketing, and sales teams.

  • Partner with the Marketing organization to develop and execute strategy for lead generation.

  • Align budget planning with our annual strategic plan and support the objective analysis of potential market opportunities.

M&A Activity

  • In partnership with the VP Strategy Pall and his/her team establish a M&A strategy for the business taking a holistic, market expansion view.

  • Provide close support for the necessary M&A projects to deliver the pipeline and the necessary acquisitions.

  • Lead, run and organize any of the gene therapy acquisitions that are completed and integrate these entities into the gene therapy business in the most appropriate, agreed manner.


  • BS in a business or scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, biology or biochemistry) or a science-related field of study. MBA preferred. Experience with commercial management, strategic marketing and product management/product development in biotechnology or adjacent industry strongly preferred.

  • The successful candidate is a leader with a track record of over seven or more years in commercial leadership roles, including at least three years with full P&L accountability at a global level.

  • She/he has proven ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of the market and industry.

  • This individual has a strong track record developing and leading high performing teams, nurturing a culture of diversity and inclusion, openness and collaboration, operating in a matrix environment. S/he has high business ethics and a long-term commitment to the business mission, the organization and the team, which blends with the Pall culture anchored on core values, collaboration and passion for what they do.

  • Track record of success achieving or exceeding sales and orders targets. Be a strong strategic problem solver, capable of translating business objectives into tactical action plans and milestones.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to work across functional areas within a company culture that is high performance, self-directing and collegial.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel.
