Strategy and Business Development

The Strategy and Business Development Role is responsible for building the business units’ market intelligence information and providing key data, research and analysis for macro economy, market and industry trends and competitor changes. This position identifies and advises on the key marketing challenges for the business. This position contributes to global strategy initiatives, development and execution of the business’ product, service and commercial initiatives worldwide. Essential Job Functions

  • Plan and execute market research and Voice of Customer activities for strategic, product and innovation initiatives. Act as a “Center of Excellence” as well as a depository and curator of the market research and VOC data.

  • Develop world-wide competitive intelligence processes and tracking tools, establish and synthesize competitive insights.

  • Use of multiple qualitative, quantitative, and analytical research techniques to uncover and identify answers to key strategic and product related questions regarding the market and customers.

  • Develop and contribute data collection analysis in terms of the macro economy, regulatory, regional, industry and market trends on a regular basis.

  • Synthesize information into meaningful conclusions, develop a compelling story based on data, while generating impactful, business-impact recommendations.

  • Monitor and track competitors’ tactical and strategic changes. Perform regular reviews with commercial teams, providing up to date information and insights.

  • Assist in designing, executing, and analyzing pricing studies to support existing and new products through clear and meaningful recommendations.

  • Contribute to the business unit’s strategy planning teams.

  • 15% travel.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related life sciences field. MBA preferred.

5 or more years’ experience of commercial experience in marketing, business development or product management experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven history of success in implementation of market research, VOC and competitive analysis projects and processes.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, market segmentation and tools.

  • Experience building credibility with customers, key opinion leaders and internal partners.

  • Understanding of commercialization practices and processes.

  • Strong economic, strategic and logic thinking to build business case;

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret large amounts of information.

  • High energy, works proactively and demonstrates flexibility in approach to changing work priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point.
