Our Center of Excellence in Westborough, MA is seeking a highly talented and research driven Biotech R&D Process Engineer II to join our downstream purification team. In this role you will work with simulation moving beds (SMB’s), and other leading edge Pall technologies.
The Biotech Process R&D Engineer II will be mainly responsible for conducting hands-on experiments in the area of downstream processing, continuous and batch bioprocessing utilizing chromatography (single and multi-use), direct flow filtration (i.e., Sterile, Depth, Virus Filtration), tangential flow filtration (i.e., UF/DF, single-use and single-pass TFF), performing scalability testing and prototype evaluations. The Biotech Process R&D Engineer II will be responsible for the timely development of application deliverables such as purification runs required for data gathering of the continuous downstream bioprocessing, conduct prototype evaluation, scalability testing , performance maps, and product benchmarking. • Conducts data analysis, utilizes analytical instruments and performs characterization studies with biological products. • Builds new experimental setups and/or proficient to work with semi- and/or fully-automated skids and data acquisition tools to increase the efficiency of the application work. • Designs and executes experiments required to define and/or evaluate new products and/or processes and be a team member in cross functional teams gathered to either resolve a specific issue and/or develop a specific product. • Communicates effectively through technical reports and presentations. • Contributes to publications submitted to technical journals and presents in scientific conferences. • Complies with legal requirements by adherence to requirements of existing and new regulations and legislation. • Complies with all company policies and procedures. • Works in a manner that supports team work. • Completes work in a manner that is results and customer oriented. • Ensures a safe and healthy environment by complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s, 2 years experience in biological sciences or Chemical Engineering. Masters degree with research/intern/co-op experience in downstream processing, filtration and protein characterization. M.Sc. degree is preferred. Some experience with lab/process equipment automation will be a plus.
