Description

The Senior Manager Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS) will be responsible for leading the Americas SLS Lab team, which includes directing and guiding the team that technically supports our Laboratory customers. Additionally, they will be a liaison to customers and the Lab sales organization.

The incumbent will support Pall products through onsite demos and training, seminars, and user meetings, and through conducting presentations at customers sites, conferences, universities, seminars, and exhibitions. These activities are central to driving innovation, technical leadership, and meeting revenue growth goals and strategy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide guidance to the Americas SLS Lab team: prioritize direct report work load, provide team development and mentorship, provide technical guidance to direct team, colleagues, customers, sales, and sales management

  • Liaise with customers, and work with Engineering, R&D and other technical personnel on process/fluid system optimization with respect to contamination control and filtration/separation processes

  • Promote the participation of skilled SLS people into New Product Focus Teams and ensure that their participation is used to train other SLS people

  • Get involved with critical technical issues with key customers to get high level input and ensure adequate global resources are made available to address problems

  • Utilize in-depth understanding of the business to communicate within SLS Lab and other Pall departments to maintain the appropriate flux of information on products, applications, issues, organization and other types of information significant to our activity

  • Work in liaison with QA to provide technical answers to customers with quality complaints

  • Provide expert scientific and technical support to Pall SLS Lab division in Americas and link with other regional and global SLS

  • Align closely with Pall Lab; develop strategy within SLS to support and monitor through metrics (e.g. response time) and specific deliverables (e.g. customer reports)

  • Provide technical guidance for SLS Lab associates on technology and services, serve as key point of contact for business unit on technical issues

  • Collaborate with other functions to identify industry seminars/webinars and publications that Pall should be active in: to promote Pall technology and services and communicate progress

  • Attend and participate at relevant industry conferences (report technical trends, changes to regulatory standards, etc.)

  • Write and present technical papers for general publication/presentation at technical conferences and meetings

  • Attend relevant business line meetings as appropriate

  • Ensure training of SLS Lab staff in new products/services

  • Assist and direct customer issue resolution where appropriate

  • Maintain constant communication with sales/distributors on customer support projects as to project objectives and testing status

  • Interface with the SLS laboratories and coordinate laboratory work regarding projects/programs

  • Ensure the team is compliant to all relevant Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental policies

Qualification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, MSc. or PhD in Food Science, Life Science, Biochemistry or related discipline
  • 3 – 5 years’ management experience Desired Competencies:
  • Strong VOC processing skills and ability to persuade team members to act
  • Strong people leader capable of setting department priorities and allocating resources to align with business objectives, vision, and purpose
  • Demonstrated success in aligning organizational goals and people strategies, with the ability to create an environment in which people want to do their best
  • Start to finish execution of sales strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required; experience in a matrix environment and managing multiple priorities and projects with dynamic timelines to execution
  • Focused and results-oriented with a change management and growth mindset
  • Experience in a highly technical organization, requiring a comprehensive understanding of complex concepts and principles
  • Apply understanding of the business and integrate with others to achieve departmental objectives
  • Ability to identify and solve technical and operational problems and understand and recognize broader impact across the department
  • Seasoned user of Microsoft Office
